Table number idea

I'm not a huge fan of wedding themes, but I thought of a cute idea and wanted to share with you guys.

My FI and I are backpacking across Europe for our honeymoon. We wanted to see all of Europe and this was the funnest (and cheapest!) way we could think of. So I thought about incorporating this into our wedding by naming each table a place that we will be seeing on our tour of Europe (e.g. The Louvre, The Vatican, etc.). Each table card would have a picture and maybe a short description and the date we'll be there. It works out well because the number of tables should be about the same as cool places in Europe.

Hope that helps somebody. Also, let me know if you have any suggestions =D.

That's cute! Backpacking in Europe sounds like a blast! Maybe you could send postcards to the people at the table corresponding to the location on their table card.

BUMPING this old thread for new brides =)

since fh is a huge baseball fan(atic) and a huge yankees fan - he came up with the idea of naming the tables after baseball parks...

i dont really "care" either way - i guess it's a little more interesting than 1,2,3...

whatevs, he's in charge of it =)

anyone else doing table names instead of numbers??

I'm doing numbers, but we are putting children's pictures of us at that age on the card. (For example, at table 3, on one side is a picture of me at 3 with the number, on the other side is him at 3 with that number).
The ones I have made so far are below:

I've seen people name the tables years and do the same thing, but FI and I are 6 years apart. So he would miss out on many of the cute years of his life!

We almost did places. We took a long road trip together and were going to make postcards with us in each location and the sites we saw. On the other side we were going to write a "letter to the table" explaining why it was a cool place to visit. On the addressing side, we put all of the names of the people who were to sit there. Since we weren't doing place cards, we thought it would be nice for them to be able to double check.

Forever_ny: I love the idea of sending them psotcards from those places. Depending on how many guests you have, it might be too much work, but it would be great. Or, you can at least collect them as you go and use them for your thank you notes. They would be cheaper to send and so thoughtful!

Great idea! DH and I are from Europe so about half of our guests were from out of the country. We had a San Francisco theme, named each table after a site in San Francisco (e.g. Coit Tower, Golden Gate Bridge etc). As favors, we had little silver frames with the picture of the site the guest was sitting at. It was a big hit, I have seen our pictures in several friend's houses now.

I was thinking of incorporating pictures of our pets, since they cannot be there on the day. We may go out to the beach and draw a number in the sand for one and have our puppy in the background, and have the dog holding a sign with a number written on it for another.

Pinkerbers, I absolutely LOVE the idea of using childhood pics! That is SOOO cute! If I hadn't been such an ugly child, I would totally do it!

d1rty, I wouldn't lie to you! I was the ugly duckling in my family for much of my childhood. My "awkward stage" lasted MANY MANY years! Led to quite a depression for me in high school but that's another post. I used to think my parents were embarassed of me! Girrrl, I could tell you stories! As a twin, people always compared us and picked their favorite...right in front of me! as if kids don't understand. And I was never anyone's favorite cause I was F-UGLY! ha! Don't make me post a pic!

We're still having a hard time trying to decide on table names.  We need about 15-18 table names.  We're trying to think of words that are simple, not like movie names which can be too long to write on a 5 x 7 card.  Thinking of things/words that describe us.  Does anyone else have other suggestions?
