Tell us your proposal story and you may be featured!

Tell us all about how it happened and post pics if you have them!

I'll start with mine - Josh and I spent the day at Universal/Islands of Adventure in Orlando.  We go back to the hotel and the first thing I do is go use the bathroom.  I come out to wash my hands, jeans still unbuttoned and I look over and he's on his knee.  I yelled out something like, "Couldn't you wait for me to button my pants??  You're a dork...Yes."

So us :)

I have no photos of that, sorry.

We went to the Prado @ Balboa Park for dinner to celebrate my 22nd birthday. After dinner we began having a very initimate talk about why we love eachother. We began playing truth or dare and after a hour of truth or dare, he asked me "truth or dare?". When I said truth, he had the ring out in front of me and dared me to MARRY HIM!!! It was so romantic because it was actually a trick question. I began to cry like a baby; forgot to answer, he asked again and then said YES!!!

Joe proposed on July 22, 2007 on Monument Mountain in Great Barrington, MA. l was visiting him at the Tanglewood Music Festival, and he convinced me to go on a sunset hike up the mountain. This was totally normal, because we go on hikes all the time together. This time, though, Joe was super anxious hiking up the mountain, but he claimed he was only nervous because he wanted to make sure that we wouldn't miss the sunset. We got to a ledge on the mountain, where he pointed out a Tupperware container wedged in the side of the cliff. It turned out to be a geocaching box.

Geocaching is a game kind of like a treasure hunt where people search for these containers using a GPS device, sign the guest log when they find it, and leave a small token in the box for the next person who finds it.

I opened the box and he told me to look for the last entry to see how long it had been since someone else found it. I looked through every single entry while he got more and more restless.

Several days earlier, he had found the box with a few friends, and had written "Will you marry me? Check YES or NO" on the last page and marked it with a pen so I would open right to it. Joe figured the box would be pretty safe since no one had signed the log for 2 months. Unfortunately, some kid named Ben had found the box before I could get to it, and after taking the pen and putting his own entry on the last page, he checked the box that said NO!

I eventually found the page that had the question written on it, and he looked at me, took out the ring, and said "Well, I guess Ben doesn't want to marry me, but I was wondering if you would." Obviously, I said yes, and we had a wine and cheese picnic while we watched the sunset on the top of the mountain before we blindly hiked back down in the dark.

(from my bio- and I don't have any pics on this computer...)

On a very average Friday, I was just hanging out at work, waiting for the weekend to show up, and I received a gorgeous bouquet of lillies! There was a note from Dustin that said "Meet me at the place where we had out first dinner together as soon as you get off of work."  So after work, I went to the restaurant and gave them my name for the reservation, the hostess just smiled and handed me another bouquet and another note! This one told me to go to the place where I first knew that I loved him... So I went over to a walkway by a pond near my apartment... and there were more flowers, and yet another note! This one said "Go to the place where we first met."  Clearly something was up... he doesn't usually send me on scavenger hunts! :)  When I got to the place where we met (Starbucks), something seemed weird... a lot of people got quiet as I walked past them, the staff seemed really giddy when they smiled at me, plus the lights were dimmer than they usually are. I followed a trail of rose petals into the back room where all the lights were off, but instead there were tons of candles! And of course, Dustin was there with more flowers and a beautiful proposal! I was so excited and couldn't wait to say yes, I wasn't quite able to remember everything he said (he still gives me a hard time about that!)... but I do remember the excitement and how happy I was about getting to keep him forever!

Kory and I met 6 years ago. I knew he was the one by the first summer we were dating. We made it through a long distance relationship and college and finally got engaged on May 12th, 2008.

The Engagement

We were planning a trip to NYC. We love to travel, and we both had never been there before. After a very early morning and a plane ride from Wisconsin we arrived in NY. Kory took me to Central Park and paddled us out on a boat to the middle of a little lake there. He presented me with a scrapbook that he had enlisted the help of one of our friends to help him make. It included drawings of my favorite flower (orchid), the places we've traveled, the places we've lived, our favorite recipe, professional pictures we had taken that I had not seen developed yet and finally an amazing love letter. After I finished reading the letter I turned the page and it said "Will you marry me?" and he dropped to one knee in this small boat in Central Park. I, of course was in tears and said yes. We were able to enjoy our next three days in New York as an engaged couple.

I came home from work on a normal Monday to make dinner.  We decided to watch a movie as we ate.  At one point I paused the movie to take a quick bathroom break.  When I came back into the living room, Steve asked me to come stand by the record player and listen to a new song he had written.  I said "it's about time you wrote me a song".  :)  I saw the title of the song was "Janie's song" but it didn't even enter my mind that it could be a proposal.  The song was really sweet and talked about how he used to hate cats but now he loves mine (Gabby) and how my 20 pairs of shoes on the floor only makes him love me more.  Then at the end of the song he told me he would love me for the rest of his life and asked me to be his wife.  He then lifted the record player lid and pulled out a black ring box.  I was so stunned.  He got down on his knee as tears rolled down his face.  Of course I said yes!  The ring belonged to his Omi and he had diamonds added to it.   It's beautiful!  Little did I know that the day prior to his proposal he asked my dad for permission to ask me to marry him!  I also had no idea that he'd been getting the ring ready starting in July!  I wish I had pictures, but since our pets don't have opposable thumbs, there was no one to take one.  :)

I love that story K!!!

FI had no plans what-so-ever for 4th of July even though I had asked him to because I plan everything. Well, I caved in and planned a nice trip to our favorite place with a picnic on the shore of Lake Michigan. So essentially, I planned my own engagement!

We walked down to the end of the pier after lunch and talked about the beautiful houses along the shore and how we one day wished to own one of them. We were alone except for a guy cleaning out his boat behind us and FI kept glancing at him.

I think he got sick of waiting so finally he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I don't remember exactly what he said or what I said (he told me I just kept screaming!) and the guy on the boat had been listening and started cheering for us! That broke me out of my trance and we laughed harder than we've ever laughed before, hugged and walked back up the pier with the biggest grins ever!

From my bio...no pictures but we do have video! =)

Luis and I had decided that since it was our first Christmas in OUR first place together we wanted to host Christmas Eve dinner and have both our families under our roof.  It was better than having to choose between both families or shuttle between the two.  We cooked up a storm...cochinita pibil, chancho asado, beef ribs, frijoles puercos, tamales mexicanos...and everyone had a grand 'ole time.  My parents spent the night at our place since they live over 40 minutes away and we didn't think it was a good idea for them to drive home so late.  We all woke up Christmas morning to open gifts.  We opened everything addressed to us under the tree and when we were almost finished, Luis said he had one more gift.  He grabbed some wrapping paper that someone had torn off one of their gifts and quickly disappeared.  He came back with something wrapped several times with the wrapping paper.  I was sitting on the ground on my knees, he was standing.  It was the sweetest proposal ever. He proposed to me and promised my parents to try his best to be the best man he could be for me.  By the end of it, I had tears streaming down both cheeks!

When my fiance was still my boyfriend he had made me a "promise" ring out of an old coin (he drilled the middle out and did a whole bunch of cool stuff to it). Well, he used to always take that ring off and fidget with it and put it on his own finger. I also wear a thumb ring and he'd take that off to fidget with it, too.

I went out to visit him for Valentine's Day (he lives in GA and I'm in NM) and when we woke up Valentine's Day morning he took my rings off to fidget with them. I didn't think anything of it, but then his heart started to race. *side note* (We had a running joke about getting married in 2012; don't ask me how or when it started, but two thousand twelve became the "magic" year for us.)

He then asked me, "Will you marry me tomorrow?" I giggled and said, "no." Then he said, "Will you marry me in 2012?" Since he also always asks me this, I said, "Ha. No. That's too far away." Then it felt like his heart was going to beat out of his chest...I knew it was coming...He then said, "Well, will you marry me sometime?" I said, "Of course!" Then he said, "No. I'm serious. Will you marry me? Look at your hand." I looked at my hand, and instead of the ring he had made me on my finger there was a gorgeous diamond ring. (pic in my bio!)

Sorry it was so long!

For 8 months I had been planning a trip to Las Vegas for my birthday. I had done a ton of research and had everything planned, every minute of our short 4 day vacation...so I thought! We had a romantic evening planned for Friday. Then night started off with cocktails in the Romance Lounge followed by dinner at Romance at the Top of the World in the Stratospher more than 800 feet above ground level. We had a breathetaking view of the Las Vegas Strip right next to the window. The food was spectacular and just when I thought I couldn't take another bite, our waiter hands us two glasses of champagne and places a dessert front of me. A beautiful diamond ring was propped up next to a raspberry. Butchy asked me to marry him then slipped the ring on my finger!

Andy and I were nearing the end of our senior year at Princeton University and we had been talking about getting married for a little while. He took me to a really nice dinner one night and I was expecting a proposal, but was being kind of grouchy. When we got back to my room I took off my cute dress and put on some casual clothes. He began insisting on walking to get ice cream, which I kept trying to talk him out of because we had just eaten dessert at dinner! Finally I relented, with much grumbling, and he told me to put my dress back on, so he "didn't look dumb being all dressed up". I was exasperated at this point but gave in, though I refused to put on my cute shoes. So, we walked up through campus and when we got infront of the oldest building on campus:

Andy and I were photo 524167-1

When we got in front, he dropped down on one knee and pulled a ring box out of his pocket. At the same time, 6 of his friends jumped out from behind the trees they had been hiding behind with cameras to take pictures. I happily said yes and grabbed the ring before I let him put it on my finger. It was so much fun! Needless to say, we had champagne instead of ice cream :-)

It was Christmas Eve and Chris and I went to his families house first to have dinner. We then went to my house and opened gifts on midnight. I gave Chris his gifts and he was insistent that we go to his sisters house to open gifts there too. So, off we went... his mom handed me the gift that Chris had for me... It was a Cook Book! I had a look on my face like "you have to be kidding me". So, I brushed it off and went on to open the rest of my gifts from his family. When we got into his truck I said "where's my gift, your kidding about the cook book" (for those of you who know, I don't cook. I will one day, but I don't right now. lol) So anyways, he laughed and gave me a Victoria Secret box. It was a beautiful lingerie set. But then I said, "so you mean to tell me, I'm going to tell my family you gave me a cook book and a lingerie set".. He laughed and said, "your present will come tomorrow, you have to be patient". I laughed and thought maybe he was going to surprise me with Pepe Aguilar concert tickets. So, he dropped me off at home. I couldn't sleep all night. So then Christmas day was here. On Christmas day at my house is usually casual and family comes over whenever to eat tamales. Chris came to my house dressed up with slacks, sweater, tie, and button shirt. I asked him why he was so dressed up and he said " I just wanted to dress up for you". I thought, something is totally up. That's when something inside me told me that it would be the day he proposed. All throughout the day I had a nervous feeling, I couldn't eat, think, talk.. I just kept wondering when and how he would do it. My parents were frantically cleaning the house and arranging for the family to come over at 6pm. I thought we never have a formal dinner on Christmas day.... So my mind kept spinning. Finally my entire family started arriving. My aunts, uncles, grandma, great-grandma, padrinos, friends, etc. were all there. My cousin Eddie brought his professional video camera. Eddie said " I'm filming Christmas memories". I thought "we never film Christmas memories"! So then 6:30 pm came and Chris held my hand and took me to the living room. My entire family had their eyes on me. Chris faced me towards the entrance of the house and a trio walked in. They sang a ballad and I started crying. Once the trio walked in, his parents, sisters, brother in laws, nieces, and nephew walked in. I couldn't believe it. He then knee led down and proposed. It was amazing!!! My whole family was drinking Tequila, singing and dancing. It was everything I could of asked for and more. The best part of it all is that I have it on film.

He had asked my parents for my hand in marriage a week after Thanks Giving. I had no clue! :0)

Sorry for the length...

David, my boyfriend of almost 6 years, has never been the type for organized planning, but regardless of this fact, it was a quality I loved him for; so I was completely astonished when he began arranging a trip to Orlando for the summer.  Being on the opposite side of the country, this was a huge deal, so even though it was March and plans were for June, I immediately began purchasing and packing items.  My instincts always told me that it would be a huge ordeal when he did propose, but I never suspected it would be this colossal.

Our first full day there was at Discovery Cove, which is a dolphin interaction park.  I was so energized and smiley that David couldn’t even look at me without flashing a smile.  When we arrived, I was in heaven, the gardens were lush, and it wasn’t crowded at all; best of all, everything was inclusive, including the food.  We checked in and we were scheduled for a 9:45 a.m. dolphin interaction, which I was a little turned off by because I knew I’d need more time after breakfast to relax before getting into the water, but I eagerly agreed to the time and entered the park.  Once it was time to get in the water I almost screamed because I was so ecstatic.  We were with about 30 other people in the water along with other dolphins, our dolphin’s name was Dixie and she was so sweet.  We kissed her, rode on her back, and when it was time for her to go, she even waved “bye” to us with her tail, I was so sad to have to leave, but I began to trek out of the water. I was almost out of the lagoon when one of the trainers told me that one of our pictures didn’t turn out and the photographers would need to retake them with David and I.  The only thing I was thinking at this point was that I had a great opportunity to buy more time to spend with Dixie without everyone else in the lagoon, but soon the picture was taken and it was now finally time to leave.  The trainer then asked me, “Dixie’s been working hard and I wanted to know if you’d like to play with her with her toy?”  I’m pretty sure my face said it all because soon she told me to direct Dixie over to another trainer on the other side of the lagoon, before I knew it Dixie was swimming back to me with a white toy in her mouth, as I followed the bright white toy under water I kept thinking I didn’t want this to end, and as she surfaced I noticed writing on the buoy “Will you marry me Jennifer?” I then began to cry.  David came behind me and repeated what I had just read, and I turned towards him holding my hand over my mouth and nodded “yes”.  He was so calm that whole morning that I didn’t suspect anything other than a beautiful day doing something I had dreamed of my entire life, this was amazing, but it wasn’t over yet.

Although the moment seemed perfect to me, there was no ring, so David walked me over to a private beach and there it was, a beautiful princess cut engagement ring in a treasure box with flowers.  As David pulled the ring out, the crying started again, he told me how important I have been to him the past few years, and how I made things possible for him that he never dreamed of, I was overwhelmed at this point, but there was still more.  The staff walked us over to a leafy wall and opened a hidden door, inside was a private cabana with roses, truffles, champagne, custom flutes and picture frames for all the beautiful pictures that the photographers had just taken, this was truly the most heartfelt and spectacular moment I could NEVER have imagined.

Were on holiday in Egypt last year.

The second night into the break (he couldnt wait any longer)

Its evening and he wants to sit on the balcony (there are mozzies and he gets bitten ALL the time, but i dont. so im confused as to why he wants to sit outside?!) but i go anyway

I had seen a B.E.A.U.T.Y of a ring in the hotel store, it wasnt a E'type of ring and was stupidly expensive but i had hinted to him that i would like this ring, so he mutters something along the lines of:

FI 'that ring umm, the one umm in the shop downstairs'

Me 'uh huh' (im thinking OMG he bought me the ring, hadnt even crossed my mind it might be something else)

FI 'well umm...you cant have it'

Me: (after a rather long pause) '...ok...' (boo)

FI 'because i umm...got you a different one...'

I STILL hadnt twigged on by this point

Me 'oh?' (it suddenly hits me) '...OH...'

I start hysterically sobbing as he bends down on one knee, he asks and i say yes

...my ring is WAY nicer than the one in the hotel store, which i promptly forgot about anyway lol

So Chris is a pretty quiet, shy guy.....he had been mentioning wanting to take me to dinner on friday the 13th of February and I actually had that friday off of work so it worked perfectly!  He was pretty quiet about where we were going but when I asked what I should be wearing he said it needed to be something "nice".  So I got a little dressed up and he took me to this super cute little french restaurant in Pasadena.  Dinner was amazing and it was quaint and romantic.  He kept holding my hand across the table and we had a great time. He left his jacket on allll through dinner too..it was NOT cold in that restaurant...When I said why dont ya take off your jacket he said, noo the breeze from people coming in the door is chilly..didnt really think much of it then...but he had the ring in his jacket!!!  After dinner I thought we were going home and he made a turn to to opposite direction of our house. I was like "Babe, you're going the wrong way" to which he replied "we have another stop to make"...at that point my heart started to beat a lil faster.  We pulled into the parking lot of this bar we like to hang out at and got out of the car.  In the parking lot he kinda just stood there, hugging me and giving me super long, sweet kisses.  I pulled away a little and asked him what was up and he just said nothing and hugged me really tightly.  Finally he looks right at me and says "You know I love you right?"  I said "of course I do" and he said "well the reason I took you out tonight was because I wanted to ask you something".  He then got down on his knee and asked if I would marry him!! Of course I started crying and said yes!!  We went inside the bar and there he revealed to me that he wanted to propose in the restaurant but it was too busy and crowded to do it there and thats why we ended up in the bar parking lot.  I couldn't have asked for anything different because he is my quiet, low key, reserved guy and thats exactly the proposal we had!! :)

nooo pics...we were in that parking lot allll alone...and again..i think he would have been EXTRA nervous if there were family/etc around

A late Halloween night in the apartment of Adam and Ashley. She sleeps soundly in the bedroom, while he is nervously preparing for the following day. Tomorrow will be their anniversary, and Adam has big plans for the event. (It is no coincidence Adam and Ashley are having their wedding on November 1st) A few days earlier he emailed Ashley's mom and dad an attachment that read "application to marry your daughter." Everything was in its place.

He stares at the ring in it's little box, playing the moment in his head again and again. "Just don't screw it up" he tells himself. He places the ring back in it's hiding spot and does his best to get some sleep.

Morning arrives and the two drive out to Seal Beach. He's not told her where they are going, only that they're going out near the water. A lunch that Adam barely touches, too many nerves. They walk across the street, hand in hand to a flower shop, where Adam buys her a single red rose.

Then, on to the gondola! Adam and Ashley approach Tyson, a young blond headed chap that gives Adam a sly wink. He's been made aware of the coming proposal. They grab a bottle of champagne, board the vessel, and Tyson pushes them out into the canals.

Tyson sings them songs, instructs them to kiss while passing under bridges, as is the old Italian tradition. After a while, Adam gives a sneaky nod to the Gondolier and he maneuvers the boat to an open area where the sun can be seen setting.

"I have a question for you" Adam said. Before she could say anything he reached into his pocket, carefully bended to one knee and said "Will you be my wife?" Without pausing, she said "Yes!"

He slipped the ring onto her finger and they wrapped their arms around each other. Tyson cheered, congratulated the two, and belted some old Italian standard. Adam stood and pumped his fists in the air, cheering, causing the long gondola to wobble dangerously.

The bottle of champagne was popped and the two sat wrapped in a blanket, enjoying the view, and soaking in the beauty and magic of the moment.
