Spring/Summer 2012 Baby Bumps!

Telling the Boss

Well today is my day to tell her. I'm feeling a bit nervous even though she is ultra cool. Well today is my photo 3192216-1I'm not sure how she will react. Its just that we have such a small office and I feel kinda guilty having to be gone for 3mos.

Ahhhh breathe Well today is my photo 3192216-2

It'll be ok...at least she's a female!  I had to tell my male boss a couple weeks ago and he got all flustered because he hadn't had a female in his group in years... not to mention preggo. :)  You'll feel much better after it's all squared away!   Let us know how it goes!!

My boss was super happy for DH and I.  (He was even at our wedding.)  He was like "oh your life is going to change so much and it'll be great."  So I was like, well I didnt know if I had to tell anyone or anything and he's like, "Oh maybe tell HR, me I dont care!" haha

Good luck!
Telling my boss was my biggest fear and it went much better than I thought it would. I told him a whole lot earlier than I planned to because I had a scare that meant having to engage him in shuffling things around and he ended up being very understanding and was actually excited for me. I only see my boss 1-2x/year and talk maybe once a month and now he calls me every week just to check on me! :)
The guilt is hard to let go of. I am still struggling with that because they will have to spend 4-5 months training someone just to cover me for mat leave but this baby is trumping the guilt so far ;)
Let us know how it went!

I'm not working with this pregnancy, but I always had really good luck before. No meanie bosses. :) There are always some negatives to deal with regarding work, but I think people are usually very understanding. I found that I was always quite catered to, which is nice. I worked with two volunteer firefighters with my last one. I got really weirdly sick one day, and they called in EMTs just to check my blood pressure and blood sugar. Totally just friends asking for a favor. It was actually a little embarrassing. Then, I had someone refuse to let me just drive home, so we compromised by her following me.

My Principal actually asked me if I was pregnant a few weeks before I found I was. So when I told her the news, she was excited and told me that she wasn't surprised because she already had a feeling that I was. Needless to say she's been very supportive.

I told my boss a while ago because I was so sick I just couldn't make it into work for numerous days. She was totally cool about it and was actually very excited for me :) I'm sure your boss will be fine with it!

I'm a little nervous, my boss doesn't have any kids and sometimes I can tell that she doesn't understand what its like to have a family (based on some of my coworker's issues with her). Today was the first day I had to call in sick, and I've had to ask for a few days off already for appt.'s so I think I might have to tell her soon. But I really want to wait until after 1st trimester to tell her & my coworkers. Ugh we'll see I guess!

That's great news that she was cool with it!

Hi SunnyCanadian,

I thought the same about my boss but actually after talking to her I felt relieved. She is young and on a path to make us the top franchise of the year, so me being out on ML in March will definitely hurt us some.... but she was great I was so mad at myself for thinking negatively.

Maybe you should tell her ASAP just to relieve that tension and stress that you just don't need right now especially if you are going to need more time off, and then wait to tell your co-workers.

Let us know how it goes.
