The Dress?!?!?

How many glass slippers did you have to try on before you became a princess? I've probably tried on about 25 dresses and have found a small you that makes me feel beautiful and comfortable. I just wonder if I am too picky or if I will ever have "the moment".

I plan on and have budgeted for ordering a couture dress, I know these can take about 6 months. How long do alterations take? I know I have time, but I want to make sure I don't wait too long.

TIA!

Don't worry, you'll find the one! I tried on way more than 25 and am still looking. ;)

Oh you will have the moment. I tried on so many dresses until my head was spinning. Well, usually I allow about 2-3 weeks for alterations - gotta give them time and you don't want to rush them because they might end up ruining the dress (or my fear is that something will be poorly and quickly sewn and it'll come out/off during the wedding!).

My alterations for my wedding gown took about 6 weeks. I went in 3 times. First at the beginning, then halfway through the process and then a final.

I tried on about 10 to 12 dresses, but I still ended up buying the one I first laid eyes on from this magazine ad. The dress took 3 months to order, and alterations was about 4 to 6 weeks. I got it from Gesinee's Bridal in Concord.

I must have tried on about 20+ dresses. I LOVED the rouched look and knew that I had to have it. I also was very biased towards Monique Lhuillier and Vera Wang. I am going for my first fitting this weekend!!

I bought my dress on ebay without even seeing it in person. It's by Nicole Miller, I had another dress by her that fits me like a glove. The dress I bought on ebay was a size 8 I normally take a size 6 so it was a little big. I'm having it taken in...i really like the dress, the quality is amazing and you can't beat the price. The dress was originally $1,800 I paid $450 and it was brand new.

However I recently came across Rosa Clara, a spainish designer...and I love this dress....

I would just take the sheer on the top off and make it 100% strapless.

This is my dress...

Sorry I don't have a bigger pic of the model wearing it. I have some larger photos of a manikin wearing it on my bio page.

I tried on about a bzillion dresses. Seriously, i never even tried counting. There was one that really caught my eye when i first saw it... and then i kept coming back to try it on again... and then i brought in a friend to help me... and she's the one that got flushed and teary when i tried it on... (and she had seen me in a lot of dresses by then!) and then i knew. :)

(incidentally... this is similar to how i found my FI) :)

I never tried on my dress either before buying it, but I tried similar dresses/ styles. It still fit like it was made for me...I didn't need any alterations.

I tried on millions (or so it felt) but I tried on one that felt wonderful. Everyone in the place stopped and was ooohing and ahhhhing... I knew that if it was that headturning, it had to be doing something good for me! I found it two years ago... and love it.

Ive tried on a lot of dresses...and gone to several stores...but I ended up going back to a dress I tried on the first day at the first store I went to....your body knows when you have found the dress...and so do your friends...and family who are shopping with you...I judged my dresses by their reactions before I saw myself in the mirror....
