thoughts on DIY invitations

Joe and I have been doing DIY invitations and it has pretty much consumed all my free weeknights for the past two weeks. We're *FINALLY* done and just need to go to the post office tomorrow to mail them.

I really like how our invitations came out, but jeez that was a lot of work. If I had to do it again I would shell out the money for someone else to do it for me. =)

The invitations were inspired by bruinchiq's invitations (AKA Mrs. Lemon on weddingbee).

You Invites turned out awesome!! Congrats =o) as for myself I'm making my own invites as well. I'll post them when they are all done.

In fact if this goes well, I was thinking of starting my own business. I have soooo many ideas for new and creative invitations.

WOW...those are amazing! what did they cost you in the end to DIY?? I can only imagine how much effort you both put into it...but they're all worth it in the end!

Those invitations are wonderful. My fiance and I were also a DIY couple, and I am pretty pleased with how our invitations came out also. I guess that I shall put my pictures in my bio. :D

I entertained the idea but got tired. I did a lot of research on various companies and now I am helping my friend with her wedding. Is DIY better or a hassle?

The cost for the materials for the fabric envelopes was about $1/each. We made 200 envelopes and $120 was the fabric, $65 for the cardboard that we wrapped it around, and $15 for thread and other miscellaneous stuff. It took us about 2 weeks to make those things (almost every evening after work). In retrospect I would really have to think about doing this again because it was so much work.

Wow, I'm not sure I can find the time to do them myself...and really, I'm not sure if I'm nearly as crafty as you Margaret. If I do them myself and they don't turn out - how long would you think it takes for me to buy "something" custom from Paper Source or someone!?

I used an A9 envelope. My friend used Papersource for her invites and they turned out beautifully! I'm guessing it might take a few hours every night for a week or so to put everything together and mail them out?
