Thoughts on wedding menu please!

Hi! My fiance and I are throwing ideas back and forth and we finally found something we both love: a new years eve brunch wedding. Sure it will be early (at 10:30-11 with a reception immediately after) but we both love breakfast and it will save us so much! Plus we get the day to ourselves afterwards to celebrate the new year and our guests can do the same with who they choose. Its a compeltely diy wedding, even the food. Here is our possible menu: Breakfast burritos (sausage and eggs, bacon and eggs) Hashbrown bar (toppings will include bacon, cheese, green onions, etc) Self serve waffle bar Parfait bar (fruit will be in waffle cones) Bagels and bread for toast (with cream cheese's and butters, jams, etc) Coffee cake and cinnamon rolls Mimosa bar Juice and milk Gourmet coffee/hot cocoa bar Our cake will be a pancakes with cheesecake filling to separate the layers. Our favors will be an assortment of doughnut holes which guests can nibble on prior to the ceremony to tide them over until the reception. I'm trying not to overdo or underdo it with food. Thanks in advance!

i love the idea of a brunch wedding.  it is a time slot i seriously considered.  i would maybe also add some additional fruit

also...some people are allergic to egg...(most of my family)  so i would also add something with protein that doesn't include egg.  something like a ham and swiss roll.

we make these and they are fab.

Ham and Swiss party rolls

1 pkg rolls (kings hawaiian, peppridge farm, or any type that is already baked.  the size of the roll depends on what you want.  we have used several different sizes)

1/2 lbs sliced ham (you can really use as much as you want)

sliced swiss cheese (the amount you will need will depend upon the size of the slices you get)

1/2 c melted butter

1/2 tsp worcestershire sauce

1/2 tsp yellow mustard

1-2 tsp minced onion (the seasoning)

poppy seeds

Keep the rolls attached to eachother and cut the entire thing in half.  Set the tops off to the side.  Place the bottom portion in a 9x13 pan.  Layer with ham and swiss cheese to cover the entire "loaf."  Place the tops back on.  Now cut through all the layers to seperate each roll.  do not seperate the rolls and leave big gaps between each roll.  now take the melted butter and add the worchestershire sauce, mustard, and minced onion.  stir.  spoon the butter mixture between each roll or on all cut edges.  the butter mixture will fall down into the cracks between the rolls. top with sprinkle of poppy seeds.  cover and allow this to set in the fridge overnight.  bake at 350 for 15 min.  allow the rolls to rest for 2 min before you recut and serve.

I think it's a great menu and agree that some fruit would be a nice addition

My wedding was at 11am and it was great, we loved having the entire day and night with our friends & family!

I love the idea of a brunch wedding. Your menu sounds delicious, although I agree that fruit would be great. Those sandwiches krosa mentioned are one of my favorite party foods!

Yes, pretty much agree with what the other ladies are saying.  Fruit is a beautiful and delicious way to add to the menu.  I have to say I have always wanted to attend an early afternoon/or morning wedding.

Good luck.

Krosa's making me so hungry with her pictures.  Yummy!
