Tips to a Happy Marriage

How Many Kisses Does It Take to Make a Happy Marriage?

How Many Kisses Does photo 301481-1Wouldn't it be nice if there was some secret formula to ensuring a happy, healthy marriage and preventing the dreaded seven-year itch?

Well, it's no secret anymore, but researchers for the British wedding-planning Web site confetti.co.uk have discovered the "vital ingredients" for lasting love. They surveyed 3,000 married people and discovered some common traits in happy couples:

- Meeting through friends
- Marrying after three-and-a-half years of courtship
- Walking the aisle at age 31 for the groom and age 29 for the bride
- Keeping the spark alive with three calls, e-mails or texts during each workday
- Saying the L-word at least once a day

- Waiting two years and two months before starting a family
- Taking two romantic meals out each month
- Doing the deed three times per week
- Kissing four times per day
- Spending three nights per week cuddling on the sofa
- Allowing for two separate nights out with friends per month
- Taking two weekends away per year

Obviously having sex three times a week and kissing four times a day is good for your bond, but does it really matter how long you wait or how old you are when you tie the knot?

I dont think it should matter how long you wait or how old you are...but i think a longer marriage is a stronger marriage :)

I think it does matter, but the reasons depend on the person. Men, on average, take a lot longer to mature than women. 31 sounds about the right age for when men start to finally get it.

I think one of the things that makes a lot of women unhappy in marriage is regrets. Maybe they got married young and never got that degree they wanted or got pregnant too early and never advanced in their career how they wanted. Women have some serious goals these days and I believe most women with those goals would be happier taking care of themselves and focusing on #1 before getting married.

As for me, I'm very old fashioned and am perfectly content to be a mom and a housewife if that's what the future holds. I don't have career goals and I've already seen the world so I'll be just fine. FI is not totally mature, but is definitely already out of that party phase, hates bars, has no interest in "sowing his wild oats" or whatever else the average male his age does. I think we'll be happy. :)

- Keeping the spark alive with three calls, e-mails or texts during each workday  - CHECK
- Saying the L-word at least once a day - CHECK

- Waiting two years and two months before starting a family  - Don't know yet!
- Taking two romantic meals out each month  - CHECK

I don't think 3000 married couples is enough to come up with average traits of married couples! It sounds like a good relationship though!
