To do or not to do??

Not to be a complete downer, but is anyone doing anything specific for deceased family and/or friends?  Like a candle, picture, etc?  I can’t decide if this would be too depressing at a happy event.  We have 4 we would like to remember, but not sure the most appropriate way or even if we should…

i'm going to be doing bouqet charms to the 3 family members I'd like to remember. My cousin and my maternal grandparents. They loved me dearly and would have totally been part of my special way.

Ive heard some girls planning to do a memorial table or a memorial seat in honor of a recently deceased important family member.

i'm leaving 2 seats empty for both my mothers who have passed on.. if my father is not there - i will also set aside an empty seat for him at church and place 3 white roses or something for  each of them

i'm also wrapping my bouquet in fabric from one of my mom's dresses, using my father's rosary around my bouquet and for my mother - her pic in a little charm

Yes, many do a little memorial table with pictures, candle, etc.

My friend had an empty chair with a flower on it at their ceremony and said a little poem in memory- we ALL cried when he read it but it was still so sweet....

We are doing "a moment of silence for the loved ones who could not be with us today" and on the back of the program we are going to have a little mention of our grandparents who have passed. Also, at our reception site, there is a fireplace and I was thinking of having each of our grandparent's wedding photo's on display there. Some people light a "remembrance candle" during the ceremony.

Remember, there is nothing you HAVE to do, just do what will make you feel the happiest and comfortable

right before my friend's wedding ceremony, they rang a bell (for each of the family members not present) and it signaled the start of the ceremony.

FI's parents are deceased, but we're not doing a memory table or flower on the chair.  I've never had to deal w/this, so I let him decide what he wanted to do and he said that he didn't want to be depressed on our wedding day, so its totally up to you.

My husband made my wedding dress from my moms wedding dress to my dad. The top was made from the sleeves of my moms dress, fabric they picked out together, supplies he got himself and fabric from my grandmother who passed on the year before. I was very close to my Grandmother, I lived with her for six years in high school and middle school. I love and miss her dearly. To have the fabric so close during our wedding day was very touching and special. This is how I honored her.
