To up-do or don't...

Hey girls,

So I finally figured out what to do for my wedding day hair (4 months away, eek!). I have very thick, coarse hair that most stylists have no idea what to do with. I have a excellent iron and tend to straighten it which really helps it lie flat. I've decided to to a half up style (thin side pieces are twisted back) with it staightened and then curled. It looks awesome and really worked well with my hair type and the garden setting... It took me forever to make that decision, glad it's done! Anyways, I have my sister as MOH what kind of hairstyle should she have? Since she's my only attendant would it look weird if her hair was up and mine is half down? Any feedback is helpful, it's getting down to the crunch!

No! I think hair is dependent on the person and what looks best on you as well as what looks best on her. I think it will be very pretty, not strange at all!

If you look a lot alike; you might not want to have the same hair style also- but if your looks are very different; then I would think pick the most flattering style for both of you

JuneBride,
I love the half-up, half-down style! And I think it's totally Ok to have you MOH have an updo. In fact, this is what I and my MOH (who is also my sister) are doing: I am going with half-up, half-down and she will have an updo. She looks lovely with her hair up, whereas I don't think I do as much, so I would never insist that she has her hair otherwise.

Yes that is really similar, except it will be a bit more loose curls as opposed to waves. My sister has significant scarring on her cheek and neck from surgery so maybe having her hair at least part way down would be good to draw attention away from her scars. We look a little similar but not that much... I'm thinking maybe a low bun with curls framing her face? That may be the best of both worlds, take away focus on her scars but still follow my "natural" garden look...

I am sorry about your sister's scarring - it is very thoughtful of you to think about what would not accentuate the scars. You could also have her tuck in a flower on one side so that it also deflects attention. And yes, a low bun with loose strands framing the face would look great - plus it will complement your look - you will have a similar yet very different hair style.
