too soon?

My wedding is October 18th 2014, is it too son to start planning? I have looked all over for my dress and the style is really hard to find. It will be Mideval inspired, possiblly different shades of purple with gold accents but I haven't set anything in stone. My friend is making our daughters dress to be a miniture of my own so I wanted to pick my dress ASAP. My fiance thinks it is too soon to start planning but I want to get the invitations out because most of our friends are out of state, and I want to pick my dress so my friend has enough time to make my daughter's dress. Am I overreacting and jumping the gun? Should I slow down?

You’ve come to the right place, because it is never too soon to start planning. I started planning mine a little over a year before my wedding. Vendors book up quick sometimes. So it's best to get as much booked early as you can. Plus if you DIY it can get time consuming so start projects during your free time now and you won't regret it later!

I bought my dress a year and 4 months before the big day. Sometimes the salon has to order them and it can take months before your dress comes in. I would definitely start looking now. Plus, as you said you need it so a mini version can be created.

As for invitations, those typically are sent 2 months prior. I wouldn't send that just yet. But I would definitely recommend making a save the date so your oot guests can be prepared.

GL!

Ok that puts me at ease, so long as I know I am not crazy to begin planning now!

Not at all! You are less than a year away now, and some stuff, particularly reception venues and photographers books up really early.

Our wedding is so low key. I think at most we are having 30 people, maybe 40.

Are there even companies that will cater such a small event?

There are for sure companies that cater small events, restaurants will often cater for something that size. I know we hired someone for my aunts 50th coming up in a few weeks.

It is never to early to start planning... a year gives you plenty of time to get all your stuff done and pick out to save from stress and being overwhelmed.

The planning you need to do now is: # of guests, ask the bridal/groomsmen party, theme, colors, wedding and reception venue, photographer.

In January you should definitely start looking for your dress, secure a caterer if not a part of the venue plan.

It sounds like to me your already on target. Plan to send out Save the Date Cards you can DIY, won;t need invites until August.

Make a pact with hubby to be to just answer questions... and my advise is at this point keep your questions on a list and choose a once a week time to go over your questions with him. although the new grooms are excited to be marrying YOU they usually do not want to be a part of details consistently.

Hope that helps

My wedding isn't until Jan 2015 and we have venue, catering, colors and stuff already done. I have already selected my dress, but am waiting to order until February to order as my weight is changing a lot right now I'm afraid of ordering it way too big and not being able to alter it to the correct size. I still have a lot to do, but I feel like im WAY ahead of the game!

My wedding is on Ocn 11, 2014. I have already booked photographer and videographer, because they are too popular here and I want exactly those guys to record my special day.

I am picking a dress now. Already found the shop it will be ordered from.

Some people say it is too early. But I like when everything is under my control, so I am planning every detail now, to avoid surprises.

I kinda even picked centerpieces style.. hehe

I am not getting married until 0ct 23, 2015 and I have already started planning. I am with you in thinking it's to early, but like some of these amazing people have said there is a lot of stuff that gets booked in advance.

I am hoping to find a venue soon, but I am really concerned because we don't really have a good idea of our budget. I am glad to see I am not the only one planning in advance I was really worried. ^_^

My engagement will be about 7 months total. I was engaged on August 3rd and literally 3 days later picked out my dress and bought it. Good thing too, because it just came in a week ago! We had already picked out our bridal party that day. It's never too early! I say, the sooner you can get things sorted, planned, bought and budgeted, the better! But don't stress over it too much! This is a time to enjoy and cherish! It's only here once! Happy planning (:
