Train & bustle question!!

Okay this may seem like a silly question. Now I'm going back to the idea of having a bespoke dress... the seamstress started asking me about trains and I am very very confused. I told her I needed a day or two to think about it haha. If I have a dress with a chapel train what will the bustle look like? I love the look of those court or brush/sweep trains but how does that bustle? Can it or will I just risk tripping all night? What will a bustle look like for a sweep/brush or court train? Can you bustle dresses made with lace overlay?

I'm using this as a guide for length terms...

Thanks ladies!!

My dress has a chapel length train and the woman at the bridal salon suggested a french bustle. I found this picture online of a french bustle and the dress just happens to have a lace overlay! HTH!

A knottie friend of mine wore the exact same dress that I have. Our dress has lace trimming and a sweep train. Here is what it looks like bustled.

Thanks for finding that beatie! How many points are you planning on for your dress?

Chicbride, oh your dress is so lovely. Are you thinking of bustling it in a similar way?

Hmmm, that I don't know. I kind of like how it looks in that picture. But I do like the simplicity of just one point. I'm not all about the poofy-ness I guess I'll have to wait to figure that out when I go for alterations. That's not until late July!!

My dress is a chapel train with lace overlay. Pictured is the seamstress' pins for the bustle at the first fitting. My mom didn't think to get a full length shot for some reason...lol! Chic and Beatie, those are great options of bustles!

Teh picture of the bride with the pins in should give you an idea.  Whatever name you call it, just pull up the material, hook it, and make it so that you can walk frontwards and backwards.

I work with an alterations company, Toast and Strawberries/Phoenix Bridal in the Wash.,DC area, Georgetown, and we do all sorts of bustles all the time.

the main thin is that you want to make the dres so that you can enjoy the evening.

good luck..call, or write:  toaststrawberries@htmail.com, or 202- 723-9007
