So I'm in my first TWW and I'm wondering what, if anything, do you do differently?
Did you change any routines? This TWW limbo is so weird!
Frankly, I didnt change a thing. Already I was on prenatals and trying to eat healthy, but that was it. I didnt change a thing, still my active, almost workaholic self. I even think a change of routine will keep your mind fixated on the fact that you are on the 2ww, and trust me, that way, it will seem like 6weeks when its just 8days gone.
I just find myself being more aware of things. In relation to the recent exercise post--I would normally do abs after a run and TBH yesterday I did a few before quitting because it was in my head. I just don't know about these TWW.
I've cut back my coffee intake by a little less than half my normal amount and I'll be skipping cocktails at tonight's graduation party, and until AF decides to show her ugly face (or not). What about all those other things? (deli meat, sushi, etc?)
I changed nothing - same exercise routine and I had a glass of wine at 7dpo for sure (it was my BFFs birthday dinner), I may have had other drinks during that time, but I don't remember - lol
Claire--Glad to hear that, I had wondered how much of my life I had to put on hold during 2ww and I felt guilty for even debating a glass of wine tonight. This limbo thing is weird.
Very little. So far. I still did abs, but nothing that was crunching or twisting. I still did plank and a few other things.
I stopped drinking my raspberry leaf tea. I just drink it CD1-O.
I don't let my cat walk on my uterus during the TWW. LOL, but he likes to wander around on the bed in the morning so I protect my uterus when he's close to it.
I thought I'd go cold turkey with alcohol when we started TTC. Instead, I've decided to just be drinking in super moderation during the TWW. I had some wine on my birthday, and then was really careful till we went to Vegas...ha!
Like I said in the other post, if we were starting to go months without success I think I'd consider implementing some old wives tales during the TWW.
Oh, I start seeing my acupuncturist (Chinese medicine doctor) for conception acupuncture after two unsuccessful cycles (works well since she's currently on vacation). She said once a week, then twice a week during the TWW.
Athena, I wouldn't worry about the cat - I know someone who had the snot beat out of her AFTER she got her BFP because her boyfriend wanted her to terminate the pregnancy and she wouldn't... Not a pretty story, but she had a healthy full-term baby, despite the beating....
nicole - the baby isn't working off a placenta until well after you get your BFP so I wouldn't worry about an occasional glass. I think the biggest concern is regular drinking of 2+ glass a day, alcohol thins your blood a bit and can impact implantation, but you have to do it regularly and in higher quantities.....I'll tell you I wanted a glass of wine SO badly last night - I didn't do it, but dang I can't wait for the day when I can! LOL
Sorry, I dont get it: what exactly is with a cat and the uterus? Why is it bad for the cat to walk on ones uterus?
TY TY TY all for responding, I had no idea the baby isn't working off the placenta for a while and I was a bit sad that I hadn't gotten my last glass of wine or sushi in. Now I don't feel guilty.
@claire -- My DH doesn't drink at all, I asked if while I was PG if he would drink the occasional glass of wine for me lol. Somehow I don't think that will be the same.
@athena -- I don't think it sounds crazy. It's bizzare how much more aware of everything we are when we TTC.
We were under the care of a fertility center and did IUI. For the first two days after the IUI my Dr. said to take it easy. I had been on prenatals for 3 years so we continued that of course. I never drank throughout any of my cycles. When we decided to take a break for a few months I'd have an occasional drink but never when we were doing an IUI. Pretty much didn't do anything I wouldn't do if I'd known I was pregnant.
I didn't really change anything when we were TTC. I don't drink at all, so that wasn't an issue for me. However, I think the issue with alcohol during pregnancy (regardless of how early), at least for me, is the risk of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder. It's probably more of a big deal for me, since I work with FASD kids on a daily basis and have also taken a course on FASD. I know I was surprised when the teacher for the FASD course told us that alcohol can start affecting a baby within the first three weeks of pregnancy, and that's when most women don't even know they're pregnant. Obviously, it's up to each individual, and probably isn't a big deal unless you're a heavy drinker, but just my two cents worth. :)
I kept up with my regular exercise routine until after I got my BFP. I was exhausted for a while there, and quit, but I'm slowly getting back into doing squats, pushups, lots of walking, etc.
I've never been a big coffee drinker (maybe once every week or so), but I didn't cut that out either. I did, however, limit my green tea intake to a cup a day.
I'm currently in my first TWW. Let me just say... I'm not a fan! I feel so anxious and just want to know one way or the other. It's harder than I thought it would be.
I have cut out all alcohol, caffeine, and any of the pregnancy "don't eats" just to be super safe. That's really all I've changed... just a few dietary things. I've maintained my normal exercise routine which is nothing crazy: walking my dogs a couple miles a day.
I also went out and bought anything I might need in case I do get pregnant and have morning sickness. Ginger ale, saltine crackers, hard candy, ginger preggie pops... How crazy am I? Lol! My sister had extremely bad morning sickness for all 3 of her pregnancies for all 3 of her kids so I'm being extra cautious. Hoping I will have better luck...
