Ugh, I'm so frustrated with myself.

Hey ladies,

I figured this would be the best place to vent since you all understand how I'm feeling. Today was my first fitting and I left Davids Bridal in tears. I'm trying to lose a few pounds so that my dress is comfy with enough room leftover for me to eat at the reception. I have the dress on, shoes also and the lady that is going to do the alterations takes one look at me and says no. She said that I need to lose weight because she could tell that the dress was snug in the waist area. I know that if I lose 5, then it's good. The issue is that the dress is A-line but because I'm hippy, all the weight is on my hips (I'm also 4'10' so it doesn't help). I see that the fabric was starting to bunch up on my waist so I see her point. If they did the hem (which has to be done either way) now and I lost weight than the dress would still be long due to the weight loss. It was either pay for the hemming to done today and then pay an extra $100 for any additional alterations. My mom was with me and tried to console me but in the end cried with me since I was so disappointed.

So now I have 3 weeks (fitting is for sept 4th) to lost at least 10 pounds. I guess I will have to put up a picture of any dress (not the real one, my FI lives with me so he can't see the dress) on the fridge and get my butt to the gym.

Sorry for the long post but I need to let it out before I lose it again.

I am sorry you are so distraught about this. I believe every woman knows what it feels like to have the burden of changing their weights. I believe you can do it. That is a very short time to lose ten lbs if you are still eating.

If you have a lot of self control I woul suggest doing a fast or a protein shake diet. They have caused people to lose 20lbs in a month. Given most of the weight is from water, but it is still a jump start. Losing weight is a major pain in the ass but once it is done maintaining the goal weight is even harder!

You can do it. Just set your goals and follow through with them. If you are feeling weak for a moment, post something and then we can all jump on you and remind you that you want this.

Don't worry.  I know it's frustrating, & lots of pressure, but you can do this.  I bought my dres in January, & I thought someone traded bodies with me the last time I tried it on again, because it's all gripped up & snug!  It's a hot mess & I'm on my crunch mission day & night.  Try to ease off of sodium & sugar during this time, & just be motivated, rather than frustrated.  Let those tears push you to your goal.  Also, have you ever tried Spanx & a great boustier thingy?  Maybe the right body smoother will help polish & tighten everything.  It'll all work out.

NYC - you can do it!  I had the same problem!  When I first bought my dress I couldn't zip it up the last inch!  Even during my first fitting in May it didn't fit!  I wanted to cry!

But the entire month before the wedding I worked out 5x a week with a trainer, ate healthier and cut back portions.  Mix cardio and weight training.  All the weight fell off and on the day of, the zipper went straight up, no problem!  Work hard and it'll happen!

Good luck!

Thanks girls, I needed it that. So I just spoke to a friend of mine who's on weight watchers. I told her the dilemma and she offered to help. Since the budget doesn't include joining WW, she's going to give me her cookbook and point counter system also. She pretty much has the program memorized so I could borrow all the goodies from her. She said if I follow the program to a T and work out at least 2-3 times a week, I can actually drop the weight off and even a bit more in 3 weeks. *sigh* To top if off, last night I get a phone call from my aunt asking what the time the ceremony is. I was confused and looked at an extra invitation that I had and realized that the time wasn't listed!!! Yesterday was the day of all days I tell you. But I fixed it, I emailed all the people that had gotten theirs by personal delivery and just redid the ones that needed to be mailed. Whew, I had it rough yesterday but surprisingly I'm still alive!!!  But thanks again for the encouragement ladies!! You have no idea how much better I feel.

ahh don't worry nyckittie! you can do it in three weeks! thats about 3.25 pounds a week. Totally do-able. Try to eat mostly yummy salads with a nice vinegarette dressing for lunch and dinner an dwalk three times a week and i think you'll see some great results the first week! good luck!

Good luck, you can totally do it! Make sure you drink lots of water! To loose a few pounds, I recently  gave up my diet pepsi addition and started drinking water all day. I couldn't believe how much tighter my tummy and thighs looked after only two weeks!

I would do the South Beach Diet.  I lost 12lbs in the first two weeks. I am also trying to lose weight so I know how you feel.

Jackei G - I've done that diet many, many times :)

My recent trick is to eat House Foods Shirataki noodles for dinner everynight.  They're a substitute for pasta and have 40 calories in the entire bag.  1 bag is enough for dinner.  You can add veggies or grilled chicken if you want and it's still super low in calories.  They take a little while to get used to their consistency but they're not that bad.  You can get them at Ralph's and Whole Foods in the refrigerated vegetarian section.

Aww, NYC, hang in there. I am sorry the seamstress was so mean too! I would have snapped her head off. You have three weeks, stick to your diet, drink LOTS of wather and keep to a workout plan-lots of cardio (but don't starve yourself!!!). Also, really check out Spanx or Dr. Ray's body shaper (haven't tried them but ran into a lady at my seamstresses place who swears they take off 3 inches). You can do it!!!

This is exactly why I raved to my FI about PW, I love how everyone supports one another in these "trying" times..But I just stated to my friend that damn it, I'm going to do it! I send lots of hugs to everyone who's responded to my "rant".

So here's some happy news..with watching what I eat and exercise, I've lost 6.5lbs! It may not be much but hey it's better than nothing. It will certainly help with my first fitting. I am so happy! But this won't be the end of it, I'm going to keep it up!!!
