Using wedding gifts before the wedding- what do you think?

So we've received alot of gifts before the wedding and we've been opening them, writing thank you notes and setting them aside. But is there any reason we shouldn't go ahead and start using them? On the one hand, I don't usually open and enjoy Christmas gifts before Christmas- so maybe we should wait? But on the other hand, they're just sitting there...why not start using them now, right? Any thoughts?

Technically, you are supposed to return the gifts if the wedding gets cancelled - so you aren't supposed to use them. Heck, I'd use them but hide them when the givers came over!

Well, they already received the htank you cards, right? They've probably assumed you opened them and are enjoying them, so no harm in using them =)

I agree with Lilly,,,,okay not on the whole premarital sex thing...but waiting...I think having them around wrapped...just builds to the excitement of the whole wedding experience....plus when you come home from the honeymoon...its one more thing to look forward too...So I am going to try and wait.....but I may have to open just one.

First of all, you are supposed to open and thank your guests as the gifts arrive, even before your wedding (although I didn't do that because I wanted to wait till we have our wedding photos to do a Photo Thank You notecard). So I don't know why it's just as taboo as premarital sex?!?!

If you have already opened the gifts and sent your thank you notes, there is NO reason why the gifts should be just sitting there. I'd say use them and better yet, if you are still writing your thank you notes, tell your guests how great their gifts are.
