Vegas for honeymoon?

What do you think about going to Vegas for a honeymoon? Or should Vegas only be for bachelor/bachelorette parties and eloping?

I think Vegas would be a fine honeymoon. Flights are inexpensive, and there's a lot of fun (kitschy!) stuff to do!

Shoooooot I love Vegas regardless. I mean I just like hanging out, eating, gambling, sometimes clubbing (it's expensive though), seeing the sights. A lot of the hotels are nice to check out, you can see really good entertainment, get some nice spa treatemtns, and you can imagine that you went to Paris, Venice, other parts of Italy, Egypt and New York all in one trip.

Las Vegas is fun all year, I think it would be an awesome bachelor/bachelorette weekend...(thats what we are doing) or an awesome honeymoon, theres tons of clubs, bars, restaurants, shows...and endless amounts of fun to be had there.

I love Vegas! Last year we stayed at the Bellagio and although it was beautiful it wasn't worth the $$. My fav hotel so far is the Venetian and they have the Gandola rides as well. I think Vegas is a great idea if you have the extra money to spend.. it could get pricy even though they have these booths on the strip where you can get discounted tickets for most of the shows (which I highly recommend any of the Cirque shows). But it's also fun because you can lay out all day, swim, drink and then nap and get all glammed up for dinner and dancing. Anything goes so I say go for it!

PS - We still have no idea where we are going to honeymoon. I know I want a spa like atmosphere but don't want to spend a lot of money.. maybe Mexico? any thoughts?

hmmm...it depends. What kind of a atmosphere are you looking for? Nothing is wrong with Vegas for a Honeymoon, but personally I would like something more secluded/romantic. When I think of Vegas, I think of parties, drinking and gambling.

I am going to Vegas for my honeymoon, we bought/received some good show tickets, and also a timeshare. So we can go out and have fun do things we have never done before or stay in and some "quality" time together

We were originally supposed to go to Maui, but we haven't put any $$ towards it and haven't booked anything. So we decided to go to Vegas for a few days. We both haven't been there for a long time and can't wait. We are staying at the Mirage. There are planty of things to do like see a show, gamble, and of course drink! :) we are getting couple massages too.

We actually scrapped our year-long of planning for a 'traditional' wedding, and we're doing a Vegas wedding-moon. We're going for a week in September.

We're not gamblers, but we've gotten SO much feedback on fun things to do (shows, museums, hiking, horseback riding, motorcycle/dirtbike riding)... there's really surprisingly a TON of stuff to do there without ever setting foot in a casino.

And now, depending where you're flying from, Southwest offers a lot of non-stop flights into Vegas.

If you go this route, DO shop around the various travel sites for package deals. We found the prices on the travel websites were HUGELY better than booking directly through the hotels themselves, and actually we found LasVegas.com to be even better (by about $400) than any of the travel sites (like Expedia, Travelocity, etc...).

Good luck!

i think there's also more to the las vegas area than the casinos and hotels and shows... maybe b/c i've already had my share of the stereotypical "vegas baby!!!" days in my 20s, but that scene gets old after 3 days... are there other sights in that area or in driving range that you guys can hit??

Cryflore, you don't have to be a guest to ride the Venetian gondolas. Each ride is like 45 bucks i think.

As far as booking rooms, if i were you i'd got to priceline.com and go to the name your own price section. You basically bid on hotels by the star rating and general area. For example, if you want a 5 star on the strip, you can place a bid on that. Check out www.biddingfortravel.com to see what others have bid and won. Good luck!

But anyways, My hunny and I are planning to go to Las Vegas for our honeymoon just because we can't afford to go on something toooooooo spectacular at the moment.  Financial situation =(

I think it would be great! In Vegas you can choose which country you would like to spend the day in :).

Awesome I have been doing nothing but looking at VEGAS.com the entire morning at work! I am excited, but the FI keeps changing his mind! LOL I don't really care about the honeymoon part...I'd be fine going to Austin or San Antonio!!!

BUT Vegas looks like a blast!

My fiance and I were planning to go to Vegas for our honeymoon and plan for a bigger vacation/honeymoon the following year, but his parents were generous and gave us our honeymoon as our wedding gift.

I love Vegas though and I honestly think it is an awesome place for a honeymoon! It's a lot of fun!

Vegas could be either way! When me and my FI went we had dinner at the Stratosphere, saw Cirque du Soleil's O at the Wynn, took a private plane over the Hoover Dam to the Grand Canyon, we did the freemont street experience, we went to the aquarium at the Mandalay Bay, we watched the fountain show at the Bellagio from a penthouse suite and drank champagne and had chocolate covered strawberries, we wanted to go on the gondolas but it was too cold. We walked around and went to all the big hotels on the strip and we had a blast!
