Vendor Reviews & Advice
I thought I would go through and give reviews on my local vendors to help out some other ladies... and give a few words of advice...
Bride's Attire - David's Bridal, Warwick, RI -- B - I went here because they had a variety of dresses and LOVED my dress. They were easy going when I needed to exchange it for a smaller size. The only problem I did have was with the sales girl, she seemed pushy and wasn't as accomodating to me as I would have hoped for.
Alterations - New Begginings, Uncasville, CT -- A++ - I brought the dress in 3 weeks before the wedding and had it let out, the bustle and steamed and it only cost me $140. I picked up the dress 2 weeks later and it was perfect!
Groom's Attire - Men's Warehouse, Waterford, CT -- A - The tuxes were resonable priced and came in 4 days before the wedding and all of the guys were able to pick them up early. The only problem we had was my dad's pants were too big, but they fixed that right away.
Flowers - Morning Glories, Norwich, CT -- D - I was extremely dissappointed with how my flowers turned out. I gave the lady color swatches and pictures of how I wanted the bouquets to look. My bouquet was a bright red rose when it was supposed to be a deep red rose. The stems were to be wrapped with ribbon and pearl beads were to be down the center. Well the ribbon was horrible and the beads were glued on and fell off before we even got to the ceremony. The corsages white roses were wilted and the sequin bracelet was ugly. The only thing I was pleased with was the boutinere's which was only 1 rose! Overall I would not recomened this place to anyone else.
DJ - Sounds in Motion, Norwich, CT -- C - We originally wanted to do a "funny dance" during the bridal party dance and the DJ lost the music 2 weeks before the wedding but swore he could put the mix together asap but we decided to skip the dance since we really wouldn't have enough time. We wanted a soul train line and he never announced it so it never happened. The song for the dollar dance was played during regular slow music time. Our generations dance never happened. He seemed to have quite the attitude during line up and when people requested certain songs.
Hall - French Club, Jewett City, CT, JJ Catering, Canterbury, CT -- B - The hall and the caterer were reasonably priced. The only thing that I didn't like was that they didn't inform me ahead of time that I needed to rent table skirts for the head table so we had to run out the day before the wedding and find some and they didn't mention to me that I had to clean out the place the night of the wedding. I thought I had time to go back the next morning to pick up the items.
Hair - Hair Unique, Mystic, CT -- A++ - The took all of my girls and did an amazing job, got us in and out quickly. Would highly recomend Tammy, Eric or Maureen.
Transportation - Legend's Limousines, East Lyme, CT -- A++ - They were on time for everything and had champagne ready for us.
Hotel - Hilltop Inn & Suites, N. Stonington, CT -- A - They were very accomodating for everything we needed.
Words of advice...
1) Make sure you take time with your husband to sit back and realize everything that was going on because I tried to but everyone kept pulling us in every different direction.
2) The little things you realize that don't go right or aren't what they were supposed to be, absolutely no one else will notice so don't let it get to you
3) Enjoy absolutely every single moment because it will be over before you know it!
