Vent: dress drama

So today I went to pick up my dress. Should be easy, show the BM how to lace up the back and bustlethe dress. That would have been nice. Instead, the old lady that had me in tears on the first appointment did it again. She did not do half of what I asked. I had pointed out some beading and stitching that needed to be fixed and the top needed to be pinned a little but she completely brushed me off and didn't do it. So today I had to wait an hour and a half for it to be done. And she still missed several bits of beading. Plus, when the owner steamed the dress not only did she do a horrible job but the steamer left streaks on my dress. She tried to tell me that this is what happens when you buy a sample. The thing is I had asked her if I would need to have time to get the dress cleaned and pressed but she assured me it would be ready to wear. The lady acted like I was crazy and just didn't see the stains on the dress before. I have had that dress for over a year and have thoroughly inspected it at least a dozen times. Now I get to wake up at 6 am to try and get it to the cleaners. Hopefully they can fix the stains before friday

OMG!!!!   I am so sorry for the disgusting treatment you have experienced at the hands of these extremely unprofessional women!

I don't think they understand the pressure and desire of a bride to present a flawless look of perfection on her wedding day.  I'm disgusted and saddened for you that they are not helping you get there!

Good luck with the cleaners.  I hope they can at least see the importance of your request and help you achieve the flawless non-stained and streaked look you have right now!

Big hugs, hon!

I'm so sorry for you, big hug from PW brides. She had better pay for the cleaning and pressing, see if they will pay to offset the cost somewhat.

Oh they had no intention of helping, they just wanted us out. I took the dress to the cleaners today and he said he'll have to do a spot test and see if the streaks come out. If so it will be done by Wed. If not, my FMIL offerred to buy me a new dress. If we could find one. Hopefully it doesn't come to that

So sorry that you're having to deal with this during crunch time.  I hope the stain/streaks are remedied by the cleaners - they're usually pretty good.  Worst case, maybe you can camouflage/hide (depending on where it's located) BUT don't let anything affect your disposition and your mood.

You and your FI are the most important components of your wedding.  Focus on you, your FI, and your joy on your wedding day.  Be positive and keep that bridal glow.

Best wishes and hope everything works out great!

P. S.  I had about a dozen things that did not quite go as planned during my wedding but once I was "in the zone" or "in the moment", everything else seemed secondary... I was just so pleased that everyone had a great time (without noticing any glitches).

I agree with neworchid! it's no fun to have an old cranky lady ruin your day, but at the end of it all, a little off stitching and beading will go by unnoticed, and perhaps even the stain if it can't be removed. People will be looking to you to see how big your smile is next to the love of your life, and you WILL look gorgeous!

Otherwise still hope that all is or has been resolved!

I'm not too concerced with the beading part. Nobody is going to look as close as I did but the streaks go throughout the entire skirt and train so it's pretty noticeable. I'm not going to stress though until I hear back from the cleaners.
