VENT: Expectant Mothers Parking

I just need to get this off my chest: Was outside at work taking a call and a convertible full of salesmen pulled up and took the expectant mothers spot closest to the door. WHAT THE EFF? I was so mad I could spit. They were all jeering and laughing at the fact that they took the spot, so I know they noticed.

I'm expecting and IM not even using the spots yet because there are women in the company that are further along than me that need it more.

UGH. I am so disgusted.

I reported it to my immediate boss (who is a woman) - and by "report" I mean that I bitched about it haha. She told someone and they moved it. I hope they were thoroughly embarrassed.

I live in Staten Island, NYC and you rarely see those spots… and when you do, they are always taken… at 38 weeks I would love to see more of them.  It pisses me off soosooooooo much to see the few ones that are around taken by non pregos.

We don't even have those spots here. I think 1 BRU's did and that's it. I would have told them something myself. Lazy men.

I would have left a nasty note!  What happened to common courtesy?

How annoying!  I would get SO mad when I would see someone park in the Expectant Mother's spot and they weren't pregnant!   I think I parked in the spot once towards the end of my pregnancy because I was having a lot of pressure and pains and couldn't walk that much! lol.  Otherwise, I liked walking the few extra steps for exercise ;)

What idiots. I refuse to use them on principle... and I am 40 weeks pregnant. If a pregnant woman is going to the store, she is capable of walking just like the rest of society.  The only time I can say that they are "okay" is if it is snowy/icy.

I appreciate these parking spots, but get so mad when they are abused.  There is only one at my grocery store and I swore if I ever saw a man park there I'd waddle right up to him and tell him what I thought....but it never happened.

I considered leaving a note but I was afraid someone would see me and/or they would report me as the only person who saw them park...and they were clients so my company probably cares more about their happiness anyway. :(

Don't get me started on people abusing the handicapped parking spaces. . .those especially make me seething mad when I see people who don't belong in them, even if they are going in for 'just a second'.

*UGH*

I'm with Mountain- don't get me started!  I haven't used the expectant spaces (probably bc BRU is the only place that I know of that has them).  I think you did the right thing by talking with your mgr.

MB- Sometimes the people who you think are abusing the handicap parking spots really arent. People always give me nasty looks or i actually had a guy tell me one time that there was a police officer looking at the spots today and i should move my car and i just politely told him thanks but im good. I actually have a temporary handicap pass because half of my foot and leg is numb and i have a really hard time walking along with my back problems and it makes it really tough to walk which means i hardly go out but when i do.. it help.. and if u saw me u probably would think that i dont belong in the spot either...   OH but i dont use it on days that i am feeling decent enough to walk more. I leave it for others who need it more on that day. But yes there ARE people out there who i see abusing them but sometimes its not everyone who u might think.

That annoys me too! Where I live the only spots like that are at BRU or Buy Buy Baby and I hate when other people take the spots. It's really rude.

MY husband wouldn't let me use those spots until I was in my last month! For the same reason you don't use it yet. Some people.

Blonde - I do know there are people legitimately using the handicapped spots.  I'm not talking about the people who have tags (even if they don't look sick).  I'm talking about people who use them to 'run into the store for two seconds' or groups of teenagers who use them to loiter and hang out.

My sister is disabled and I've worked with those are are severly cp/spina bifida, etc. and can't COUNT the number of times I've had to walk them in from the far reaches of the parking lot because of people with no tags at all using the spots.  Very frustrating.  I don't fault people like you have have tags or temp tags because of something that may not be visible. . .it's the other people who don't have tags (nor do they need them), and unfortunately, they are EVERYWHERE!  Especially at big stores and movie theaters and crowded events, the handicapped spaces go fast and sometimes 1/2 the spots have no tags, but people are parked there.  NOT cool.  Especially when you have a 90 pound girl with CP that needs to get out of the hot parking lot. . .

Anyways, Blonde, good for you for telling your MIL that she can't borrow your tag!  :)
