venue advice

i'm trying to decide between two venues right now. one is totally neutral and will be easy to decorate but small and expensive plus everyone has their wedding there! the other is much larger, inexpensive and beautiful but i think that it is going to totally clash with purple! :(

there is a lot of burgandy, the walls have a gold/red pale wallpaper and the chairs are burgandy. the carpet looks brand new and is burgandy as well with some purple flowers (i know it doesn't sound right but trust me it's beautiful). the purple flowers gave me some hope.

my plans for reception decor are to do all the tables in white, with victorian lilac overlays, dark purple or white napkins and white plates. i will be doing non-floral centerpieces- stacked favor boxes in different tones of purple a la Martha Stewart on top of a rented silver cake plate instead of gold. i have flower picks in my bio if you want to see more of my color direction. i don't think that chair covers are within my budget. my fi has the pics of the venue and i will post them once he sends them to me.

do you ladies think that the burgandy will ruin my purple plans? do you have any decor advice?

i m trying to photo 1464444-1this is the overlay i am thinking of- it may help to blend the burgandy and dark purple that i like.

I think red and purple look AMAZING together. If I wouldnt have went the lavendar/plum combo route, I defin. would have done that. I think its a great complementary color. I say go inexpensive red venue

How about doing black tablecloths with the purple overlays? Sounds like the venue is darker, with the burgandy color, maybe the black tablecloth won't stand out as much.

You could go for the "dark victorian" look... almost gothic, but not quite ;)

i finally got the pictures, my friends have been assuring me that I'm overthinking things... the pictures don't really do it justice because our nice camera had run out of batteries and we had to resort to our camera phones.

I think the only thing that stands out are the chairs. If you could get chair covers to match the tablecloths, then it would be fine to do all the purple in that space.

I would even put some purple uplights on those white columns and beams in the room!
