Check city and county owned facilities. A lot of cities own their own banquet halls. I got married at a city owned place and it was BYO everything but tables and chairs.

we had 200 people and almost every place i looked held 200 people- but none were very cheap. :) how much is "affordable"? I got married at Robinson Ranch in Santa Clarita, it was reasonable. We also looked at Sunset Hills Country Club in Thousand Oaks, Malibou Lake Country Club in Agoura Hills, Woodranch Country Club in Simi Valley, Lost Hills GOlf Course in Simi Valley, Brookside Golf Course in Pasadena. Those were some of our top contenders, they were on the cheaper end of all inclusive venues. (Malibou Lake was especially affordable if I remember right). You might check the police academy too, not sure how many they can hold though. Good luck!!

BTW- you are the only person to date I've ever seen w/ the same dress as me :) good taste!!

Check out the Mitten Building in Redlands.  A good size space for ceremony and reception plus you can bring in your own food/caterer.  We got married there and have nothing but rave reviews for them.

How far north will she go?  I did a wedding at the Agoura Hills Community Center and it easily held 200.

Malibou Lake is a great affordable option. You may also check out some banquet halls like Anoush. They are all inclusive and very affordable.

not sure how much/max capacity, but I know the Green River Golf Course in Corona is not too bad in price and is ALL inclusive -- food, flowers, decor and photographer.

www.herecomestheguide.com was really helpful in helping me find a venue - I also am inviting around 200 people and I booked my reception venue at Castle Green in Pasadena. A few others I considered are the Kyoto Grand Hotel in Downtown L.A. and the Los Angeles River Center and Gardens. Good luck to your friend!
