Vests and pants vs tux

This is my inspiration but Rentals only seem to come with tuxedos. We dont wanna spend alot we may have to buy hubbys lil brothers suits. So can we rent them or where an affordable place to buy?

We did suits and we found a place that rents, you just have to look around a bit. Don't go to main chains but find businesses that are local and that's normally where the suit rentals are.

Could you rent a tux with a vest under? Then you could just have them not wear the jacket.

We found it impossible. :( Most places only sell tuxes. You could rent just the pants and vests, but the vests are a shiny material since its a tux. It turned into a nightmare trying to find vests and pants in the same material.

I like the pants and vest idea...looking at the material I am wondering if they are all business suits? You can get a businss, looking on line I would say they are a 3 piece vested suit. The material is really flat you may need to google that in your area, try suit stores and ask them how much a 3 piece vested suit starts at. I don't think those are tuxedos?

That's strange, all the shops around here only do the actual tuxes for the groom, the GMs get suits. That comes with jacket, pants, vest, shirt, tie and shoes. We want them to wear the jacket for the ceremony, and then I can't wait to see all the dudes running around in just their shirt and vests, they will match the BM's perfectly!!

The only thing is the vests that rental companys have are that shiny material or they are halter vests.

We are going this route.  If you can find a place that rents suits, you want them to be 3 piece business suits (pants, jacket and vest), otherwise you won't be able to find vest that lay flat and match the pants (color and material).

We did tuxes, but I just want to say that I LOVE the way the suites look in your inspiration picture.  I hope you find them somewhere.  Good luck!

We did the vest/pant combo, but my BIL's both bought their 3 piece suits in the Netherlands.  Looks like if you care to purchase them, you can buy vests by themselves at JCPenney.... looks like you can get 3 piece suits online at places like http://www.mensusa.com/tools.aspx?id=164  Renting?  Dunno... sorry!

I know that I love the look though!  That's what our guys did!

Ditto Miss_Jules! (In fact, I think we even traded horror stories about this at one point! LOL)

That pic was my inspiration, too. We searched EV-ERY-WHERE for suit vests and pants, so that the vests and pants would be the same material. The only place I really found anything that would work (affordability, availability, decent colors) was JCPenney. The catch was that everyone would have had to order them on the spot. I figured that the chances of the stars aligning, and everything falling into place were slim to none. We all know how hard it is to coordinate even the most cooperative bridal party members. So as much as I loved the look, I didn't want the headache of making sure everyone ordered the right pieces.

We ended up just doing tuxes. One thing that surprised me is that at the reception, the GMs took their jackets off and ended up looking exactly as we wanted them to look in the first place. The vests were shiny, but it wasn't a big deal at all. I wish I wouldn't have stressed over it!

(Sorry, only pic I have right now! LOL)

We got the tuxes from Men's Wearhouse.

The backs were fully covered, but they were black. DH's vest was ivory (front and back).

I like this look too. We have a Jos A Bank in town and they have a wedding special anytime. If you buy one suit you get TWO free. The suits are $300ish a piece but split three ways - less than the cost of a suit rental! And plus the guys will each get a nice suit they can wear again and again. Then we are just getting the vests to match. I don't know how much the vests are yet since we are so far out from our date teh guys haven't gone in yet. I hope this helps.
