Victoria´s Secret or Frederiks??

I will visit my FI in the states soon, just for a couple of days and he gave me a really cute hint that he would be paying for some lingerie for me ;) (we are virgins till marriage and im in need of new lingerie for the wedding night, honemoon and co.)

SO he told me to decide if I like Victoria´s Secret or Frederiks more.

As from checking the websides I like Victorias a little better but it seems to be more expensive than Frederiks and I would like to buy as manny things for as little as possible...

Which one do you prefer?

Fredricks has a reputation of being NAUGHTY and Victoria's has an upscale Glam Sexy, but Nice feel to it.

I prefer Victoria Secret. I felt like I was in one of those Back alley porrn places I have heard about when I went into Fredricks at the mall.

My mother bought my first night gown for me at Victorias at age 16. I did the same for my daughter. I know I will buy her trousseau at Vickies when she gets married.

Victoria's Secret would be a great choice. Their things are sexy but not over the top. Frederick's is really sexy and provocative.

I agree with the other ladies. You also might want to check some department stores, too. You might find some great deals on some nice lingerie there.

Incase you do not know what a trousseau is it would typically consist of the following for a modern day bride. The items in bold were what I had in mine and were gifts at the briday shower, but mostly from my grandmother.

1 bath robe

4-5 nice but comfortable braziers

2 or 3 comfortable sport type braziers these were not in exhistance when I got married.

5 pairs of NICE underwear In my day they were silk

10 pairs of everyday underwear

Several packages of nylons/stockings/trouser socks depending on what you wear

Now for the naughtier items

A pair or two of SEXY undies with matching bra (I did not have this in mine)

2 night negligees I had only one

1 Dressing robe

These are what were also included in mine from my grand mother:

I also had 2 new dresses

1 set of nice bed linnens

1 set of regular linnens

1 set of towles

1 Comforter

1 lace table cloth

1 damask table cloth

3 new slack based out fits

and that took me through the first year of my marriage.

Out of those two, I'd say that I prefer Victoria's Secret, BUT you can get gorgeous lingerie anywhere--even department stores!

Will your FH be going with you when you shop?  It would be kind of nice if he didn't, that way everything you get would be a surprise to him.  DH and I were in a similar boat to you and your FH--we were waiting until we were married before we were intimate with each other--and it was so much fun to know that I had a few outfits put away for him and to know that he was wondering about what they would look like.  My sister even got in on the act!  She works at a clothing store and with several discounts was able to get an adorable babydoll for a very low price, and once she did that, she started teasing DH, telling him that he needed to thank her and such.  If your guy is wanting to pay for the clothes, maybe he can get a gift card beforehand and let you go shopping on your own or with someone that you're comfortable with.  But if both of you want to do it together, that's fine, too.

@IdoAgain: THanks for the list girl!

@all: THanks ladys for your opinion

@moore: THis is a cute story with the babydoll :) THere is NO WAY he would come with me, no sex no seeing each other in underwear...it will all be a suprise, I think he wants me to decide between these two because he wants to get me a gift card :)

1Corinthian13 I am planning on buying something new this go around too. Though Victorias nor Fredricks carry my current size, so I am ordering online!

I have an inkling that women like Victoria's Secret, but a men probably prefer Frederick's on the whole. We are probably the wrong ones to ask. Perhaps if you asked him if he would prefer sexy or naughty? On the other hand, even though you're ultimately dressing for him, you want something that will make YOU feel sexy, so you should consider whether lingerie that is over the top may make you feel silly or uncomfortable. If there's enough that fit what you're looking for at Frederick's, go for it if it means getting more for the money, unless you don't like the quality.

I agree - VS has more elegant choices, while Frederick's tends to be more daring, but it's all in what you want. I have found better corset and garter options at Frederick's and those are not necessarily 'naughty'. Overall I think Frederick's has a wider selection but if you are really unsure of how you feel in lingerie, go with something that covers more, like a nightie or negligee...you can find those at either place.

Go with Victoria's Secret. You'll get quality pieces that will last you beyond your wedding night, whereas how often are you going to pull out that set from Fredricks?

Both have super sexy options, but Fredricks specializes in that scene more... but it's clear that their stuff is cheaper.

I happen to like both if you want the truth! I usually purchase my Valentine's Day and Christmas Apparel from Frederick's. I love the undies that tie up on the side that they sell for the holidays! There bras are very comfortable and reasonably priced as well especially when they have a sell! I love Victoria Secrets, but because I am busty, I can't walk in the store and purchase something that fits, so I usually have to order the items online.

I can not say anything about Fredricks but I love Victorias Secret.  I think the quality is beyond great.  It feel so comfortable.  THis is why I only get bras there.
