Villa del Sol d'Oro in Sierra Madre

Has anyone looked at the Villa and how does it compare with Castle Green?  Does anyone have pricing, menu, rental information they could share with me?  I haven't been able to get a hold of Sandi but will continue trying (per one member's suggestion). Anyway, I'm too excited to wait for Sandi, the coordinator for the Villa, so I thought I'd ask around.  How does the Villa's Santa Anita Garden Catering compare with Castle Green's Castle Catering?  I heard that the Villa allows us to bring our own alcohol but was wondering if there's an additional charge?  Also, is music and dancing allowed outside the house or must it be indoors at the Villa?

Thanks for all your feedbacks,

Christie

I can't answer your first question but on the pricing, a little. When I looked into the Villa (October 07), the site rental fee was $4500 for both Saturday and Sunday but the catering was super cheap with $33 per person being the highest (I believe) and hors d'oevres being $3 per person. The corkage fee was $36 per case and they didn't offer soft drinks. As you may already know, you have bring in everything to the Villa: tables, chairs, linens, etc. so hiring a coordinator would be wise. Most of the weddings that I have seen taken place at the Villa had dancing inside. Also because the Villa is located in residential area the music has to be off by 9:30pm.

Quite a few girls on the LA Board at The Knot had their wedding at the Villa recently. You could try posting this question over there. You may already be familiar with her bio but here the link to Greengelato's knot bio: http://tinyurl.com/2q9vsq for more reference. GL!

Getting a hold of Sandi is nearly impossible. Unfortunately, she is the only person you can call. Calling the school is useless since they'll just send you to her voicemail. I got so fed up with her. I called about 20 times and talked to her once. I got so restless that I chose the courtyard at Pasadena City Hall instead.

Good luck, but don't hold your breathe. Keep trying if you really want it though. It's reasonably priced as jessebel said.

Btw, if you choose to take the Villa (which is useually booked 2 years in advance) you can only use the santa anita caterer. No outside caterers are allowed.

I heard they booked well in advance to a year ahead of time, but for non-popular months it might be easier.  Good Luck! b
