Vitamins... my start

Ok, so we all know that sinking feeling when AF comes, or doesn't if she hasn't because of fertility issues.  now DH is getting depressed when she shows up, not just because we can't DTD... lol!  I just got vitamins B-6, E, and Folic acid and I am starting my regimine with them to see if they will help.  I still refuse to take any drugs.....  Had an 8 day lutheal phase last cycle.  I am on day 3 of this cyle. sigh...

From what I've been reading, the average luteal phase is 10-16 days, right?  And a shorter luteal phase can inhibit implantation, am I correct?  Were you diagnosed with any medical conditions or anything like that?

I think those vitamins are great to take while ttc, and especially when you do get pregnant I would switch to a prenatal for sure, but I haven't read anything about those three in particular helping with elongating your luteal phase.  If you are not willing to take drugs I would suggest seeing a licensed herbalist who might be able to help you.  Otherwise it won't happen on it's own and luckily this is something that can be remedied if you do seek help.

Thanks Bean for your concern, and good point about seeing a qualified person!  I am actually a Naturopathic Doctor, so I am treating myself based on several factors.   A long time ago I had started to take this combo and it regulated my cycle, but since I was not ttc, I drifted away from them and my body went back to short cycles.  The medical condition is low colagen, and the inability to digest much animal protein and sodium.

@Alliesauce  You are correct in both things.

None of the other women in my family have had trouble concieving, so I am hoping my imbalance can be regulated by the vitamins and diet again.  I am eating whole milk products, bananas, bell peppers, and peanutbutter, as well as drinking a gensing blend tea.

Wow!  That is awesome that you are a Naturopathic Doctor!  I might want to pick your brain one day!  I had never heard about the combo, but if it works for you that is great!!!  I tend to think many OBGYN's and RE's don't get training in herbs and vitamins so they don't talk about them, but they can be very helpful!!!  My dad's a doctor and never learned anything about natural supplements in medical school, but now he just reads everything about every sort of vitamin, and takes what he thinks is appropriate, and has remained healthy for 86 years and counting!  I think the less Rx drugs we have to take to get pregnant (and during pregnancy and labor), the better!  I hope this works for you!  Keep us updated!!!

So on day 10 of cycle I had a little spot of blood, how wierd huh.  Maybe I finally ovulated well?  Anyway, I am on day 14 of cycle and day 11 of vitamins.  I definitely am feeling more energy!  I am happy about that! I guess we shall see in a bit if the vitamins are kicking enough butt to give me a BFP this month!

Oh I'm sorry you've been in pain.  Is that normal for you when you dtd?  I ask b/c DH's sperm would burn and I figured I was allergic to it.  I wondered if my CM killed the little swimmers before they even got a chance, but I never had a post-coital test.  Pelvic area pain during sex could also indicate something is amiss, but I don't want to scare you (I'm starting to think I'm a bit of a hypochondriac!).  I would just ask at your next visit if it continues to hurt and burn.
