We finally met with the Officiant :)

We met with our Officiant last Saturday and we're so excited. He's Persian and is well-known in our area to not only perform an amazing ceremony, but he does it while combining Persian and American cultures beautifully.

I had a lot of questions before meeting him face to face. Once he was in our presence and began talking, we were so comfortable. All the questions when out the window :) He is incredibly kind and warm. He expressed his intentions of it being a very intimate moment for us. He wants us to be as relaxed and calm as possible for that 20-30 minutes and open our minds and hearts to one another.

After meeting with him, FI and I realized we needed that meeting to bring things into perspective. As we get closer to the wedding, its easier to lose sight of the union of marriage and focus so much on the planning of the wedding/event.

Thanks ladies :)

Chica, you'll know when you find the "right" one. Don't settle...get a person that gives off a really great vibe.

SC April, I doubt that you are the only bride and groom that have fallen under the pressure of everything. I just need to remind myself what is REALLY happening that day...I'm marrying the most amazing man...the man of my dreams. Sure, I'm annoyed that he's yet to set foot in a tuxedo shop and we're less than 3 months away, but I have to let it go. It will be taken care of in his time and not in my scheduled checklist time...lol!

Thanks, haha, mine is exactly 2 months away tomorrow and FI has yet to walk into tuxedo shop, so talk about being annoyed, but at least he's a quick decision maker and I'm sure he'll have it done in one day, I just want that "one day" to come!!

Hahaha! I don't feel so bad...our wedding is 3 weeks after yours exactly. FI headed out to the tux shop, made it to the store front, then stopped and turned around. Why, because he saw the horrific "prom" line. I can't say I blame him, but that was over a month ago. I agree Chica, I just want that "one day" to come too ;)

I am an officiate who does wedding planning for all my brides and I love the day of the wedding when I get to focus on the sacred union and connection the couples have and the expression of sharing their love in the commmittment of marriage. The tears and loving looks of deep connection in that 20 - 30 minutes fades away all the planning and changes to the joy of celebration for the beautiful couple....

aaawwww!!! nic!!! i love that even in the whirlwind of planning - this is the middle of the tornado - the center where it is calm amidst the "wooosssshhhh" sound around you!

D1rty - That is the perfect analogy! A tornado...the eye of the tornado...you always say it best :)

Sunset - "Sacred" is right. When done right, the ceremony is one of the most beautiful and powerful moments. Our officiant told us that if we can remember all that he says and all that we say and share during our ceremony, we'll be married our entire lives....awwwww. FI and I immediately started re-thinking our plans of no videographer. We're now looking to a friend of a friend to do video of at least the ceremony.

I make a book that has the original ceremony for each couple to read out of and then give it as a gift to the couple. My husband plays an acoustic instrument during all of my ceremonies and each time it is like a vow renewal for us. We can be having a challenging moment and then we do a wedding together and its like a honeymoon. I love performing marriage ceremonies and having my love there to play the music.

If you get a videographer make sure that they have a wind resistant mic and the officiant is wearing it. My wedding video, aww... no sound but noise and it was on a tripod unattended and showes only my loves face. I was so looking forward to seeing it as could not remember anything that was happening durring the ceremony. Than all my guests were interviewed by my family on video and it didn't come through. You do not need an expensive videographer, but much can happen when you do not hire someone to be incharge of the video.
