Wedding band crisis. I'm beyond upset

The evidence....

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I bought my FI's band an awesome 9mm tungsten band  and I had in the box on the end table in the living room after showing one of my BMs. This morning I look across the backyard trying to figure out what his bad dog has eaten now and its pieces of the box and the lining. There is no way I'm going to be able to find this thing (I've already looked) and now I'm scared to mow the grass and "find" it with the mower. I feel like the dad on Honey I Shrunk the Kids searching through the backyard. Short of buying a metal detector (which I'm not sure if tungsten can be detected on one) any ideas on what to do? (Yes, I've thought of killing the dog)

The Suspect....

I'm with theDame, he might have swallowed it! That's a lab, no? They can get into a lot of things and not even realize what they've swallowed.

You may have to take him to the vet for an X-Ray and see if it's in his system or *gasp* check his poo. :(

I hope you find it!

He an 11 month old Chocolate lab, we bought him together last year as a companion to our 4yr old Welsh Corgie I loved him when he was little and was and a lot calmer but now he's turned into such a hyper distructive monster and my FI is oblivious to his ongoing distruction and he loves him and says "he's so good" He doesn't do ANYTHING good and to make matters worse he only eats my stuff and my FI says it's because I leave it around. Make note the last three pairs of shoes he ate were on my shoe rack in the closet and the band was in a box up on a table where we leave our keys. My FI keeps promising me he'll get better and it's a phase that ALL dogs go through but I'm ready to place him in the classifieds. He could have eaten it he trys to eat change (like nickels and dimes) for some reason but I've never had him swallow it. He just likes to rip stuff apart but not ingest it.

After scouring the back yard muttering to myself what a bad dog we have... I FOUND IT!!! In the farthest part of the yard among other eaten things. What are the chances? But crisis solved the ring is good as new (minus the box) :)

Thank goodness. Now for the ill-manner pup...since the Corgi doesn't like him, perhaps he is "acting out"? Dogs are pack animals and your lab wants to be part of that pack. I would suggest getting a dog trainer to come in and help. You'd be surprised what just a few sessions can do! I truly believe that there are no bad dogs (just like there are no bad kids) but there are ones that require major rules and discipline.

Good luck!

I'm sooo glad you found it! And now you have a great story to tell *smes*. When I saw your post I called in my FI, all I had to do was show him the pic of the ring and then scroll down and show the pic of your pooch. We both had a good laugh!
Cheers and maybe you have something to tell you kids later on *L.

Congrats on finding the ring! I just shared your story with my FI and he got a good laugh out of it too! :0) By the way, I know all about hyper active dogs - we have a 1 year old husky/yellow lab mix *sigh*

Soooo happy you found it! I showed my FI the pics and your story...Totally sounds like something our lab would do. =) Your FI is right...he will calm down sooner or later. =) Ours will be 3 in October...and really it's been worth the wait. Have you read Marley and Me? Very, very helpful to read especially before the 1 year b-day mark.

Anyways----(sorry, i am a major dog lover) I truly am glad that you were able to find the ring!
=)

We bought a training video for labs and he's good most of the time. He just has his moments that he's bad... the ring for example. He doesn't jump on people and he's not an excessive licker, he follows basic commands and he's very loving he just likes to eat my shoes (which I agree is PARTLY my fault)but the ring story I had to share!

As far as our Corgi not liking him they're both male so we think he just trying to show he's the head dog and he was here first but we're getting him neutered next week so hopefully it will help plus it's better for their health.
