Wedding Contests & Giveaways?!

Hi loves! Has anyone had any success with wedding giveaways and things? My sister just texted me one this morning and it got me thinking! lol

Do you know any awesome blogs or Facebook/Twitter accounts that let you know about legit  contests?

I'm thinking it totally can't hurt at this point! We have almost our entire wedding planned out for about $4000-5000 already but winning simple things like jewelry or BMs dresses (even though they're picking their own, still would be cool!)

I'd love to hear your stories and your fave resources if you have them!

xxo

I remember when I joined PW quite a few ladies were winning at Bridal shows. Someone won her wedding bands, someone else won their cake but I don't know about annoying on FB etc.

There are quite a few wedding magazines that have website contests - they might be worth checking out

If you go to any bridal shows and enter your name in drawings, just be prepared for eventual calls from people saying they got your name and you've won a free cruise or trip voucher...these are "legit" but they are a ploy to get you to come in and sit for their demonstration on whatever they are selling, and the vouchers are usually not that great a deal once you figure in fees and such.

We tried one, for cookware that WAS phenomenal but way out of our price range, and so we didn't buy anything, and never used the voucher. All brides I've known in the past few years ran into similar things.

However - any deals you win from buisnesses participating in bridal shows ARE usually great, so make sure you go to a few of those even if you already have most everything planned. I scored a discount on my DJ and tuxes, plus won free Dad tux rentals :) And my SIL won a gift cert for a good amount at a local bridal store and was able to buy her jewelry. HTH!

That's awesome ladies thanks!  I definitely haven't had/made the time to go to a bridal show yet. There aren't many up here so there are only a few per year in the whole state of Maine!  But I'm putting it on my list for the next few months because there are a few in March I think! :)

When we were getting married Crate & Barrel had a contest.  Check retail stores because sometimes they have them as well.

The ladies are correct Bridal shows are great.

Also if you have a nice bridal boutique in your area they may have events as well.  Ours used to host events and give away certificates to photographers, invitation vendors, DJ services, etc.

In addition, check your venue...I know ours hosted an event for brides - I couldn't go but i'm sure they had raffles and vendors present.
