Wedding dress, China, ETSY, EBAY..........................

I see a lot of posts on here regarding dresses and where to get them cheaper. I see a lot of brides get their dresses made in China and there are alot of mixed reviews on how they have turned out. So it has got me wondering a few things........and was hoping for some input ;). For me personally I want a blue dress so I will need to get it made I just don't know what route to take. I know also for me, spending a lot of money on the dress is not a priority as I would rather have a kick a$$ party but I still want to look good. I also realize there are tons of options bridesmaid dresses, prom dresses, etc.

Anyways, if you got your dress from China, or ebay, or ETSY, or had it made or made it yourself,  or had a bridesmaid dress prom dress, Can you please share some of the following:

Who made your dress?

picture of your dress?

If you had dress regret?

Did you have to buy another dress?

if there were any problems; shipping communication etc.....

Anything else you think would be good to know............

thanks

I didn't have my dress made, but I'd suggest checking out a few of the groups on PW for dresses made in China.

Also, check out local seamstresses in your area. They might be able to help. :)

Who made your dress?

My 4th dress that I purchased was from Dressilyme. I was told that they were the better company out between them all (Milly Bridal etc)

picture of your dress?

Who made your dress photo 3011040-1

and was an imitation of this Jim Hjelm dress...

If you had dress regret?

In a way, no. They did mirror the dress exactly (excluding the lace applique that is on the original dress- I dind't want that), but I chose the cheapest fabric, and I made the terrible mistake of not trying the dress on first and seeing if  that style was actually flattering on me. It wasn't. And needless to say- I took it to a seamstress and that's where it became a hideous mess (my fault COMPLETELY).

Did you have to buy another dress?

I did have to buy another- and only because it wasn't a good dress on me to begin with.

if there were any problems; shipping communication etc.....

there communication is actually pretty darn awesome! They respond by the next day, and really understand your requests etc. Shipping was fast, and it was completely packaged safely.

Anything else you think would be good to know............

getting a dress made is a gamble. So if you have the money to buy another dress- and even buy it last minute, they why not take the chance? But I DO recommend just looking for sales, check out wedding dress sites (preowned and recycled bride) for gowns that are in your price range. Or even check out sample sales. But it's pretty hard to get an EXACT replica from a dress maker who may be fluent in another language, and can't measure you directly.
If you DO decide to do that- make sure you give EVERY possible measurement from an actual professional seamstress. Even though I had my measurements taken at nordstroms and I included even the measurements they didn't ask for- my bust was still a bit off, so the dress was off center at the sweetheart neckline :/

I think I am leaning towards getting a dress from Etsy, A few shops I am looking at are

whiteromance; beautyidea, ieie, tingbridal

@ajbevents85 thanks for the info,

From what I have read this is extremely important, somewhere I saw or read that you should add 3 inches and tell them to leave an allowance so it can be altered.

I am going to continue researching

I can't get a link because I'm on my phone but I will be using jasmines bridal. Check out their page, just search "jasmine's bridal shop" on facebook and they have lots of recreations they have done. Their website is jasminesbridalshop.com.

I've talked to a few brides who have gotten their gowns from them and they love them! Their replicas look nearly EXACT to the original. And their customer service is great as well :) I would definitely suggest them to everyone.

To ensure you get the best fit get professionally measured, and then add a half of an inch to each so you can alter and there is room for error. Its easier to take in than let out!

I got my e-party dress from Shades of Pale they are on facebook I will post some links for them below. I chose them because they show pictures of the dresses that they actually make and they look to be the best factory pictures that I have seen online so far. Communication was excellent. They speak perfect English and are very attentive and answer emails promptly ect and answer every question, give suggestions everything. They actually write really long emails and explain things very well. What I didn't like was that they told me it would take 6 weeks to complete my dress. I can't remember how long it actually took but I wasn't too happy when I heard 6 weeks. I didn't have dress regret because it was an e-party (formal) dress. I will be buying my wedding dress from them also and I am so afraid of having dress regret because I can't decide if I want lace or bead and embroidery. I like cap sleeves but the necklines that go nicely with cap sleeves don't flatter my chest. I want ruffles but there is also an embroidery pattern for a skirt that I like which can't include ruffles. Wow sorry for that vent in the middle of my post. Anyway here is the links and email and stuff for that company.

 Girls,

DO NOT ORDER from MillyBridal. They used to be wonderful, but their management and tailors have changed. Now the quality really sucks. Seriously, I was going to order from them because of those old reviews.

Now I think of ordering from Landybridal. co or from this ETSY shop: http://www.etsy.com/shop/KarenTrends?ref=l2-shopheader-name

Regarding Landy, the quality is very good. The photos with  mannequins show dresses that were really made by them! I read some good reviews on a Russian website (i can give the link if you want, it is in Russian, but with PICS).

BUT you need to control every step to get the dress made exactly how you want.

I found my dress at david's but honestly I'm on a budget! and didn't want to spend that much. So I searched and searched for MY dress and found it brand new with tags on it on ebay from a saler that had MANY good reviews!
