Wedding dress shopping advice?

I am going dress shopping for the first time in a couple of weeks. I am slightly nervous... ok, I am terrified! I want my bridesmaids (my sister and three best friends) to be there along with my mom, possibly my future mother-in-law. Everything I have read says not to bring too many people... is 5 or 6 too many? I can't imagine going without one of them...

Take as many as you want. They often say that because of so many different opinions. Are you prepared if you fall in love with a dress and their opinion is different? I went with my coordinator and then alone. Once I knew what I liked I took my MOH

Do you as you please because it's your sepcial time just keep in mind as Kim said, everyone has their own opinion about what will look good and what doesn't.  If you are nervous about wedding dress shopping perhaps you can split up the party so that way you aren't overwhelmed.  In the end just remember it's your day so if you like a dress and they don't, do what makes you happy.

I went alone first and then brought people back when I had narrowed down some choices.  Everybody is different.  Bring as little or as many people as you like!  BTW have a great time!!!!

typically 1-2 people come with the bride, but there are a lot of brides that have 5 or more.  If it means a lot for each person to be with you when you find your dress, then by all means, bring em all.  while a lot of people go to 3-4 shops, there are still plenty that find their dress at the first shop they go to.

dont be affraid to love one of the first dresses you put on.

make sure you know your budget.  make sure friends know your budget.  tell the consultant that if they ask her to bring in a dress that is out of your budget, that she can take the dress and stick in somewhere else.  unless they specifically tell her i have cash to pay for the balance.  you do not want  to try on a dress and fall in love only to find out it is $2000 over your budget and there is no way you could ever buy it.

sit down with your friends and let them know that ideally you want everyone to love your dress, but ultimately it is what you love that is important.   something about the style may not be exactly what they pictured, but if they can tell you love it, you would appreciate a "you look lovely (beautiful, amazing...)"  in the end, when they see how happy you are in your dress, they will love it.

pretty sure you'll be checking out a few shops. I'd suggest you break it up. that seems like a lot of ppl. i personally want the element of surprise so only my mom and friend saw my dress.

for fittings, I will probably bring my MOH and that's it.

also some places put  a cap on the amt of ppl you can bring too, so make sure to confirm that.

have a budget like someone said, but personally I'd leave a little room but dont let the sales rep know that.

try on dresses you didn't have in mind, it'll be fun!
