wedding insurance

Hi! i read somewhere that it was suggested that the bride and groom take out an insurance policy for their wedding. What are your thoughts? I am not sure where the site is but I was wondering if anyone has done this and who they used.

Thanks!

If you are spending a lot on your wedding, it could be a smart move, but it depends on who you choose and what the coverage is.  Here is an article on it: http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/money/perfi/insurance/story/2012-02-13/wedding-insurance/53083030/1

If you are spending a lot, it's probably not a bad idea. Especially if you live a larger metropolitan area where there is more of a chance of something going wrong or being double-booked, etc. We didn't consider it because we spent under 10K and in our area it's not widely offered, instead our contracts with each vendor stated a full refund for issues out of our control.

The ladies are right on! It all kind of depends on how much money you're spending, where you live, and what time of year you're doing it.

I personally hadn't even really heard of it while planning, and probably would have passed on it anyways...and nothing really went wrong.

I know a bride on here in the past had her wedding cancelled or moved because of a huge huge storm and that was in NY, so she may have lost money on that if she did not have it covered.

Great advice! Thank you so much! I will definitely ask my vendors what they will do when there is a major weather disaster the day of our wedding (hoping this does NOT happen !!!) You can never be too careful these days though! Thanks again!
