Wedding Moolah

I have a sorta dumb question...

I've seen the honeymoon fund sites that you can post for guests to send you money towards the h.moon, but is there such a thing for a 'house fund'?  My Fiance & I plan to take a mini-moon, due to finances, & take a more extensive honeymoon for our year anniversary.  Our primary focus (other than being married) is purchasing a house...has anybody ever seen a wedding site/link for couples to use, without flatout asking for money?  Is it crazy tacky?

no! it's not like you're "trick-or-treating" for money...

these days, there are tons of alternative "registries"

i dont know of a site - but can you make a google page strictly dedicated to "house fund" and either make pay-pal an option OR open a bank account strictly for the house fund???  i think with more and more people getting married in different stages of their lives ie.. older instead of fresh outta college, divorced remarrying, long-term relationsihps finally taking the leap after living togather for years, it's not strange to not have the usual crate & barrel or macy's registries...

gl!!

I once saw a really cute poem on a wedding website about not needing things because they people have everything but if the guest would like to contribute money to the couples' future it would be appreciated.  It was super cute and not taky at all.  I'll try to find it for you.

Thanks ladies...& Allachka3, that poem would be perfect!  I would like to post something on our wedding website, without seeming tacky or like they have to give money.  It would be a huge help, but is by no means expected.  And Dirty, I really like that dream home registry site.  Thanks again.

Here are two I found. You can change it to fit your needs, (i.e. change honeymoon to house)

We are sending out this invitation
In hope you’ll join our celebration
But if a gift is your intention
We’ll take this oppurtunity to mention
We have already got a kettle and toaster
crockery, dinner mats, and matching coasters
so rather than something we have already got
We would appreciate money for our honeymoon pot
But most importantly we request
That you come to our wedding as our guest

---------------------------------------------

Your presence at our wedding
Is present enough,
But if we're honored
with a gift from you,
May we respectfully request
a gift of money
To help the dream of
A honeymoon come true!

--------------------------

We didn't register
We don't need more stuff
But when it comes to financial help
You can never have enough!
