Spring/Summer 2012 Baby Bumps!

Weekly update - May 7th - 13th

Things have been so busy here - congrats to our new mommies!  Looking forward to the birth stories and updates from the ladies that are due this week!

I'm 30w1d and finally made some significant progress on preparing for the baby.  On Saturday we went to a furniture store and ordered a crib, dresser, hutch, toddler conversion kit, mattress and changing pad.  Everything arrives on June 12th so we have until then to clean out our spare bedroom and repaint.  Then we went to Buy Buy Baby out in New Jersey and spent a lot of time looking at strollers, bassinets, cloth diapers, etc.  so I think we're pretty much ready to start putting together the registry.  My baby shower is super late (I'll be 38 weeks) so in general I'm just a bit later than most with all of this stuff :)

I also had my OB appointment last week - I'm measuring right on track for pretty much everything.  My weight is on "the higher side of normal" but my doctor says I started out at a very healthy weight for my height so she's not concerned.  We also had a good talk about labor and delivery so I'm feeling better about that.  Overall, just trucking along over here.

Hope everyone is doing well!

Sounds like things are going well, Veronika!

I am 29 weeks today. We had a tour of the L&D unit and postpartum unit of the hospital this weekend. It was good to know where to go and what to do exactly when it comes time. I am actually very impressed with the hospital menu! haha! Other than that, we are slowly working on the nursery still and hope to have the construction part done this week. I am still feeling fine - except the times I can't breathe!

Sounds like you accomplished quite a lot Veronika!! All your things arrive on my due date! : ) I can't wait to see what you picked out! Painting will be fun, I had a blast painting Baby Sunshine's nursery!

Nancy, I'm glad the menu looks good. Food is important! : ) Also glad the tour put you at ease!

Let's see: I will be 35 weeks tomorrow. I had the carpet cleaners come out Friday morning to clean our bedroom, the nursery, mini hall and stairs carpet. They will clean the downstairs carpets this week on Wednesday or Thursday.

Hubby put together the crib and changing table Saturday night. He tried to put the dresser together but a piece broke so I have to call so a replacement can be sent. The room looks so neat now even with the two pieces in there! I haven't brought up the ottoman and glider from the guest bedroom yet but will do so this week. I definitely see that I am going to have to rearrange my layout now that I see some of the things built.

I will be buying more things with the gift cards I received at my shower. I already purchased the Angelcare deluxe monitor, burp clothes, clear safety outlets, My Little Snugabunny swing and Baby Einstein stationary entertainer and activity center all with gift cards! The only really big ticket item left on my BRU is the Chicco playard. We'll get that next, but waiting on my completer discount or sale. My Ameda breast pump is still showing on there but my friend gave me a brand new Medela PIS breast pump at my shower so I think I'll be using that! The hospital gave it to her for her daughter because she had complications, but she also had medical condition that she chose not to breastfeed due to the type of medication she had to take for her condition. The pump was an unexpected blessing and though it is different from the one I registered for, I am grateful to have received it. Not only that, she bought me a lot of stuff too! She said since the breast pump didn't cost her anything, she didn't really feel like it was my gift, just a bonus. : )

I have a lot of pain trying to turn over at night and getting out of bed, but other than that, the only thing I really feel is sheer exhaustion! It's like I can't get enough sleep!

My toes and fingers look like little sausages! Lol! Especially my left foot. It seems to be perpetually swollen! My fingers don't look as bad, but I had to buy a fake band because I can't fit my rings now. My right foot doesn't seem too bad at all. It's just weird seeing these body changes! : )

Veronika- Yay for getting things crossed off that list!

Nancy- I feel you on the breathing, I feel like an 80 year old women some days- not fun!

I am 31w1d.  DH and I spent some time building a dresser for the nursery this weekend.  Things are really coming along in there.  I also found out that my sister and mom will be hosting my baby shower on June 9th, which I'm super excited for :)  I spent a bit of time researching baby carriers this weekend and ended up ordering the Boba 3G carrier as well as a Baby K'tan for newborn baby-wearing.  I'm really excited about these carriers and just hope my LO will like to be carried, lol!

Hope everyone has a great week!

Nina, I registered for the Boba 3G too on my amazon registry. I didn't get it but I'm planning to buy it. I picked Tweet. What did you pick? Did you know you can use the Boba for newborns too?

I forgot to include in my update that last night I had a scare. I aspirated and it was really weird. It was a lot more this time than a couple months ago and it totally freaked me out. I hope it doesn't happen again!

Good morning, ladies! Sounds like you all are kicking butt on getting things done!

I'm 38w4d and getting contractions here & there. Some nights, I feel like my body is ready to go but then it's always a false alarm. I'm lucky in that besides all the braxton's & contractions, I feel great. Definitely wouldn't say I'm miserable, which so many ladies do.

Since stopping work, I've been relaxing and cleaning around the house. I love having this time before baby comes! After I knock off the last items from my to-do list, I'm indulging in one last prenatal massage and a pedicure! Hopefully all that foot & leg massaging will trigger something and my next update will be with a baby in tow! :)

Deneen, sounds like you are getting a lot done around the house too!  I picked the Glacier color for our carrier, so it's kind of plain- just grey and black but I wanted something neutral.  If we were having a girl, I think I would have picked the Soho pattern which is super cute but a little girly :)  I really like the Tweet one you chose as well!  I do know that you can use it for newborns, but some reviews I read said it was still a bit too big for their newborns, so you never know?  Also, I really wanted a wrap-style carrier to have as well, since they are so compact and lightweight and decided on the Baby K'tan since it doesn't have miles of fabric to tie around me.  I also think it'll work well since I'm pretty petite, I've heard the Moby/Sleepy wraps can have a lot of extra fabric dragging around since they are one-size fits all.

Good morning everyone. I'm 20w3d. After telling my boss about my pregnancy last week, I told the rest of my coworkers. I am so relieved to let go of that secret. I am feeling great for the most part. This weekend I went shopping for maternity clothes. I am still in a weird in-between stage and I'm looking forward to having a nicer bump to show off! I don't have much to report because I haven't started shopping or taking classes. My 20 week ultrasound is in two days. I can't wait to see the baby again and to find out the gender!

Nancy - glad you're feeling well and enjoyed the hospital tour.  I really need to schedule ours!

Deneen - I can't wait to see the photos from Baby Sunshine's room!  I also have to say that June 11th is a GREAT day to have a baby (my birthday :)  It sounds like you're truly in the nesting phase with everything you're doing!

Nina - That's great that you're getting the nursery done!  I haven't started with the research about baby carriers yet - there is a store near us that specializes in carriers of all types and cloth diapers so I have to get DH to head over there with me one of these days.  I love the idea of baby-wearing.

Karen - it seems like either you or Kendra are next! I really think you made the right choice to stop working a little earlier than you expected.  Definitely enjoy that massage and pedicure!!

Jackie - Looking forward to hearing if you're having a boy or girl!  I also didn't really start showing until past the 1/2 way point in my pregnancy - even now at 30 weeks I'm still pretty small.  You'll get that bump eventually!

I will be 38 weeks on Wednesday. We have every thing ready except for a couple last minute items to throw in the hospital bag. At my appointment last week I was 2cm and 75% effaced. Hoping that my midwife will do a membrane sweep to hopfully get things moving. I've been having contractions but can't get them close enough together to go in for. Otherwise I've been feeling pretty well except for the sciatic pain.

Glad to hear everyone is going well and getting a lot accomplished!

Hi laides!!

Wow we had an awfully busy weekend around here!!! Congratulations to all the new mommies :)

As for me...I'm 30week 4 days...here are the boring details in a nutshell-->I'm still pregnant, I still love cumcumber sandwiches, I'm still running, I still hate chicken..yadda yadda yadda

Friday night I came down with a naaaasty stomach flu.  12 hours of puking is not exactly my idea of a fun time but luckily after staying in bed most of the day on Saturday I woke up Sunday morning feeling like a new woman....just in time for my baby shower (thank goodness!) The shower was wonderful, Harper is avery very lucky girl and DH and I are very blessed to have so many wonderful people in our lives (pics to come I promise).

**Sidenote** Now that I have gone through not only a bridal shower, but now a baby shower I firmly believe in the power of two things --> 1) RSVP'ing and 2) Registries! I hereby promise until the day I leave this earth to always promptly RSVP and always always buy from the registry, lol!

For the mommies trying to decide on a baby carrier, I did countless hours of research on this and found this chart to be the most helpful in helping me pick (I ended up going with the Boba 3g :)

Have a great week everyone!!

I can't believe how many babies we have had recently! I really hope everyone sticks around after their LO's are here :)

As for me I'm 27w 3d and feeling ok. Still letting the news of my GD sink in and realizing how hard it is. I know I have to do what's right for my baby girl but wow - I can't just have a snack without thinking about how many carbs are in it and what it's going to do to my blood sugar. I have a meeting with a dietitian on Wednesday so hopefully I can get some more tips from that.

But I'm gonna stop being debbie downer here lol I have my first shower on Thursday and I am so excited!! I've been registry stalking and I've already gotten some big ticket items - woo hoo!! And my DH got the nursery cleaned out this weekend so hopefully my MIL will paint it this weekend and we can start getting everything ready. All the decor is just sitting in the closet waiting to be decorated :) lol

congratulations to all the new mommies out there! Can't wait to see pictures of the babies.

I'm 37 weeks 4 days and completely ready for this little girl to get out of me. I had a doctor's appointment last Friday and I'm progressing a little more 2cm and 60% effaced ... I'm hoping for better news this Friday. My right foot is still really swollen to the point I can't recognize it and can't bend my toes because they look like sausages and it still feels really burised so it hurts to walk on it.  I'm also getting exhuasted easily.

In better news, the nursery is completely done - I'll need to post pictures. And we had two last baby showers (one at my work and one at my husband's work). Man, this baby girl is loved and spoiled by all.

This group is so exciting now with all the Little Ones making their appearances! I so look forward to the updates. Instead of starting with how many weeks pregnant I am I will start with the fact that Cash is 2 1/2 weeks and doing great. I am so excited for all of you ladies. Having a baby truly is something you can't even describe. It is an amazing experience. DH and I just lay in bed looking at him at night marveling and how beautiful he is.

On another note the sleep deprivation is no joke. But we are managing. 2 weeks after my c section I am starting to feel back to normal. Still some pain but I have been on a couple walks with Cash and my dog. And I am back to driving and running short errands.

On another note, I had to give up breast feeding. I went to a lactation expert because baby was losing weight. I was feeding him for over an hour and he would still be hungry afterwards. I would pump and get nothing. Come to find out, I don't have enough of the hormone to create my own milk. No wonder Cash was losing weight. I tried taking an herbal to see if it would help, but nothing has. So as 5 days ago I had to switch over to formula. I was a bit disappointed and upset that I wasn't able to breastfeed because I had planned to the whole time and actually enjoyed the experience. But it just wasn't in the cards for me this pregnancy. My OB said that the next pregnancy I may have no problems breastfeeding. Just thought I'd share my experience in case anyone goes through anything similar after they deliver.

Have a great week ladies.

Hi ladies,

Firstly, congrats to all the ladies who have now had their little ones! It is so exciting! I think I'm the second/third next on the list eeek!

I'm 38 weeks today and, apart from trouble sleeping, heartburn and a touch of morning sickness (again), I'm feeling pretty good!

Have been getting Braxton Hicks since about 28 weeks and they are still going strong.

So far, I'm just enjoying my time off, gettomg last minute things done and practicing my hypnobirthing techniques in preparation for D day!

Deneen - looking forward to seeing nursery piccies :)

Candice - it sucks not being able to breast fed!  We stopped after 4 days because I also didn't make enough and my lil guy was HUNGRY!  He would get so pissed at feeding time it just wasn't worth it too see him struggle!!!!!  G is a formula baby and is just the happiest lil guy!  I also plan on next pregnancy to try breastfeeding again :)

Lol, Veronika! Everyone wants me to give birth on their due date. I just may accomodate the highest bidder. $500,000 starting bid! The birth center calculates my due date as June 13th but I'm still going with June 12th because that's what I got from two independent online sites. I gave the birth center the same info I plugged in online so I'm not sure how they came up with a day later. The 12th also happens to be my friend's birthday! : )

Nina, yeah, I picked the Tweet for the same reason you picked Glacier. Though it's a more colorful, I figured I could use it for a girl or a boy. I really liked Soho too, but thought, what if I have a boy next time?

Thanks for the encouragement ladies! I am making progress but I don't quite know that I'm nesting yet. I still have things to do and set up and I get tired and don't feel like doing them even though I want to do them, if that makes any sense!

Hi all,

Almost 30 weeks!!!  Feeling good, went for my 3-hour glucose test today (fingers crossed) since I failed the 1-hour last week :(  It definitely was not as bad as I thought it would be!  LO's furniture has been ordered and I have been stalking my registry...my shower is June 2nd.  We also bought the paint for the nursery and hopefully DH will paint soon.  Belly is definitely rounding out and I totally feel pregnant now..yay!!  I have appt. this Thurs., just a regular check-up

Congrats to all the new bundles of joy that have been born, I can't wait!!!
