Here's your thread ladies. : )
Hi Becca! How are you? Did you get your Christmas tree? We decided to have a small one, and we will get it this week. I can't wait for it and I bet LO will be so excited with all the sparkling and glittering :-)
We had a calm weekend, which was good. This week I got a lot to do at work, as from Thurday on I have the days off til Jan 7th YAYYYY!!! So the clients need everything by Wednesday evening... Then on Thursday morning I meet up with a friend for coffee and on Friday I need to get the last small Christmas gifts and stuff for some more decor.
Have all a great pre-Christmas-week ladies!!!
How are you all doing? Last week before Christmas, YAY!!
@Olivia: You must be so anxious to see Thursday coming! Hope the next few days will fly by!
Here, it's snowstorm day...Again (ahah last time wasn't a real snowstorm...just the first big snow fall of the season). But we had 10cm yesterday, we're supposed to have 20-30cm today and another 10-20 during the night!! They closed schools for the day and I'm so glad. I was supposed to work and now I get an extra day off. And since I'm in a middle of a cold, I will use it to relax, sleep and take care of DH (he's way more sick than I am...even took the day off!).
Hope you're all doing well!
Good morning ladies! Where do I begin? LOL
I missed last week's update thread because I was training for new position here on PW.
We got a fake tree and OH LORD, that did not work out at all. My poor hubby - he took the time to put it up and it was a complete fail, so he took it apart last night and we are going tonight to get a real one. I tried really hard to warm to the idea of the fake one, but I couldn't. Maybe because it was an inexpensive one, not sure. It didn't seem full at all and there was no smell. LOL
Other than that, I've been working a lot and so has DH. He was contacted from a music group out of the UK to do some testing on a new DJ line that this company is coming out with and he is just like a little child with this new equipment. He is currently producing some tracks and I'm crossing my fingers he can get more involved with this group.
We also got some kick-ass news from our mortgage company yesterday in the mail. We apparently overpaid into our Escrow account and they sent us a refund AND our mortgage went down $40. WHOOO HOOOO!!! What a blessing!!!I started crying because that is yet an additional savings that is going to help us.
I am really super excited about our post-a-thon starting tomorrow for the holidays and from now until Sunday, I am baking, doing some crafts that I have seen on The Chew and planning/shopping for our Christmas Eve/Day menu.
DH and I are staying home and it will be the two of us due to our jobs, but we are going to have a blast this year. : ) I'm crossing my fingers that we get a white Christmas this year.
Becca, that totally sucks about the fake tree fail! I'm sure there are good and bad ones out there, but sorry you guys didn't like yours :( But what awesome news about your mortgage!! That sounds like the best Christmas gift.
Pascale, hope you and DH feel better soon! That's no fun when both (or even one is sick!)
Olivia, good luck with your work. Sounds like you will have a fantastic break from work after that!!
As for me, we had our Christmas party over the weekend. It went really well, everybody had fun. Only one thing broke (a picture frame was knocked off the wall), and three spills, but at least it was fun. haha. We will haven't fully cleaned up or put things away yet. I'm in no hurry. Just want to get through this week at work. The gym is very slow due to people taking their last minute vacation time.
DH already had an interview this morning for a new job (he hasn't even turned in his two week notice at his other job) so we'll see how it goes. It's good to just get his name out there! That's all that's going on here. Just a normal week.
Good Morning Ladies, we are finally only four days away from Christmas :) I'm so looking forward to the holidays and the time off till 2nd Jan!!!
@Olivia: Yeah for your first day of holiday today. Hope you got everthing ready for your clients yesterday?
@Pascale, hope you and DH are feeling better now?! I'm a jealous of the snow you have. Till now here is unfortunately no snow. I pray for a "white" christmas here but it supposed to be too warm :(
@Becca: Oh no that sucks so much with the bad fake tree. We also have one actually in our flat (because we have carpet in our living room). It was really expensive (i remind it costs 130 $ - ok I found it really expensive!) because the cheep ones look soo bad so we decided to get a more expensive one which look way better. If you don't know that it's a fake one, you could bet it's real. We will use it also the first years in our new house. But in a few years I would like to get a real tree :) Can't wait to see a pic of your tree!!! And what a great pre-christmas gift is that with the mortage.
As for me, it was a calm week week. Yesterday we had our last appt with the notary regarding our new house. So now everthing is perfect on the financial site so now we are ready for the decoration time :) We can move in on 01.31.2013 and then first we have to paint the walls and get new carpets in the bedrooms. Also we need some new furniture. Today Manuel and I are going to some furniture stores and do some deco shopping - Eeeek I'm soooo happy about this :)The weekend will be busy. I have to work in my second job tomorrow afternoon and Sunday morning. And on Saturday we will put up and decorate the tree at my parents house. I think they are really every year the last people who do this :)
So for now I wish you all a peaceful and amazing christmas week!!!
@Olivia - I want to be off all that time too! Please enjoy yourself!
@Pascale - Hope you and DH are feeling better!
@Becca - Did you get your new real Christmas tree?
@Elise - Normal is good!!! I want some normal right about now! Still got my fingers and toes crossed for DH!
@Kathryn - How exciting to go furniture shopping for your new home!!! Have fun decorating the Christmas tree and my last day at my second job is the 28th!
As for me, I WANT TO HIT THE LOTTERY AND GO VACATIONING FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE WITH DH!!!!! Upon return to work there was a huge to do list and my boss pissed me off telling me what the owner said Monday when I was in Chicago. Tomorrow we are having a Xmas party for our clients and the owner always makes a big to do about it and makes more work than necessary because she is a control freak. We discussed all day Friday about securing the last rsvp's because this year we are doing party at a banquet hall. So Monday my boss says she was livid because I did not leave a list of names for the people attending but that is NOT WHAT WE DISCUSSED! I called Saturday while I was on the train to see if some more people would attend and she told me to text her the number so she could call and tell the owner of the hall. She wanted a list of names because she went to the hall Monday and decided to do seating arrangements, but that is not my fault. My boss was telling me blow by blow what was said and I just wanted to hit her for telling me and strangle the owner for being so anal compulsive.
My last day at my second job is the 28th and I agreed to work Saturday afternoon, which I never do, to take one of my client's on an outing. I find out today that they are combining homes because staff from the other home said they did not want to work Saturday afternoon so now I can't take her out on the outing and have to work with two extra clients. I am so irritated and this is precisely why I decided to quit. But January is going to be tough on us because the winter property taxes are due and I won't have the extra income anymore. We are trying not to stress about it, but we are earth signs, Virgo and Capricorn, and we both think too much!
Wishing everyone a blessed holiday!
Hi ladies! Hope you're all doing well getting ready for the holiday season! 4 more days -Aaaah! I'm sitting here on PW watching DH pack for our trip to my parents'. Better for me not to help ;) he's the organized one, and I always end up in the way! I'm SO excited for Christmas since it will be Megan's first (she's 5 months.) I'm sure she'd be happy with wrapping paper and bows but I can't wait for her to experience it for the first time. The trip should be interesting... somehow we need to fit me, DH, Megan, my mom, our dog, the presents and ALL of our stuff into our car... wish us luck lol! Well, I'm getting looks from DH as I type so maybe I should offer to help after all! ;)
Merry Christmas ladies!!!
Good evening ladies - I'm finally sitting down and able to post about the rest of my week.
Elise - Thanks. I think I am still a little in disbelief about the mortgage, but in a very grateful way! So glad to hear that your Christmas party went well. It does stink when work is slow. I will be dealing with that next week Wed - Sat, so I'll be on PW more since DH has to work on Wed and Thurs. How did DH's interview go? Keeping my fingers crossed for him!!!
Kathrin - Being off until January sounds like a wonderful time. My MT work is 24/7 and since I have my own docs, I have to work when they upload, although next week is going to be pretty slow - a good and bad thing. When I'm not transcribing their reports, I don't get paid. Good thing I have PW and my other job. I'm being positive though because I could definitely use the break away from that place. LOL. The docs can be a little crazy sometimes. That is such awesome news about your home and can't wait to see it. We just got our real one this Monday, so we are almost done decorating. We will get it finished by Sunday. This is the first year ever that I have been so late with Christmas.
Tressy - Yes, we got our new real tree and so far we have got the lights on it and garland. I thought we were going to be able to hang all the ornaments, but I'm beat and since I've been up since 4:45 a.m. I think I'll wait until we get home tomorrow from running errands to finish.Wow, it sounds like that boss is just not happy that you went away for a few days, which is crazy!!! You will be okay with the money and DH & I are like you two - we think way too much. I will keep you in my prayers regarding that. How is Cale doing by the way - is he feeling any better?
Here is a pic of it so far. It's a little blurry cuz I was playing around with my camera's settings. lol
I will be sure to take some pics after we are done. : )
Steph - Hey sweetie!!! It sounds like you guys are going to be packed in the car! I remember those kinds of trips. I hope you have a wonderful holiday and don't forget to take pics for us!
Olivia, I'm beyond happy!!! I am kinda glad we had to wait because now, the tree will be still fresh for Little Christmas on January 6th, which we celebrate also, and this is when a majority of our gifts will be put under the tree. : )
I can definitely understand about being busy not to have the time to get your tree!!! How is LO feeling? I hope he is doing much better. Can't wait to see your tree!
