Weekly Update Thread: July 16-22

Hey married ladies!

I was thinking we could try something new in this group. A lot of the groups have weekly update threads, so why not Project Marriage? :-)

Just check in here throughout the week if you want to chat or see what your fellow marrieds are up to! Next week, we will start a new thread.

This week I have a big project going on at work, and am trying to balance my work schedule with DH's. His schedule changes every week, and this week he is working 3p-midnight. It actually works out pretty well for us since I work from home (8a-5p). We get to have lunch together, and then he gets an hour for dinner, so he comes home. It has really been a challenge to finish up my work and have dinner prepared in time for his dinner break every night. I need to get on Pinterest for more 30 minute meal ideas!

Other than that, we have a family reunion for DH's side this weekend in Virginia. I am excited to meet some of his extended family that I haven't met yet!

What is new with you this week?

Ohhhh and the good ole crock pot works wonders for meals..... although if I sat at home and smelled dinner cooking all day I think I would be inclined to snack all day!

Life has been sort of quite for DH and I.... we have a summer rental at the shore where FIL keeps his boat so DH has been going down there and staying a lot and fishing. It's been sort of a nice break for me as well, quite me time which doesn't happen often.

I've also returned to school and am working on getting my masters degree in business management. Only 6 classes left!!!!!!

YES! I have used my crock pot more in the last month or so than ever before. It is seriously a miracle worker!

Wow, only 6 classes until your masters degree -- that is awesome!

I am so jealous that you have a rental house and boat at your disposal, too. Who wouldn't want that during the summer?!

Before I start my post, I must say--crockpots are amazing!  I've used ours quite a bit since we got married, and it's so nice in the summer months when you really don't want to turn the oven on.

This week so far has gone pretty well.  Wes has been working, though tomorrow is his last day before his "seven off" (though he'll work overtime the last three days of his seven days, so that means that he will work seven 12-hour days before he's off again).  Tonight we participated in a series on marriage out our church called The Art of Marriage.  It's six sessions, and they've all been really good.  Tonight was about sex, which is always interesting in a church setting, and the material was quite candid, but it was some good insight onto that aspect of marriage.

Tomorrow night we're going to go to the midnight premiere of The Dark Knight Rises, which has us both pumped!  We've been preparing for it by watching Batman Begins and The Dark Knight (which was a good thing for me as the last time I saw TDK all the way through was in theatres), so we're ready for this!

I'll definitly need your Crockpot receipe ladies cause I'm such a disaster cooking whit this (I know....how can someone fail a meal with a crockpot? But each time I manage to do something that isn't edible!!!).

This week was the first one for us as a married couple so it was great! But DH worked every day and I took care of a lot of "after wedding" things. But today is DH last day of work and we're leaving for our 2 weeks honeymoon saturday! Can't wait to be on the beach!!!

Yeah lets get some crockpot recipes on here! I never cook but I have a girlfriend who made a chicken in it. I thought that would be a good thing to make for my "must eat meat at every meal" hubby.

Well this past week has been a long one for me. First week back to work since our vacation/wedding. It felt like a hundred years long lol. I think I needed more down time after the vacation and before work. This weekend I will be staying at home all day! I still have the reception to plan but its been going pretty well.

Our big project after the wedding is money! So far we've gotten the Kay's card (my ring) paid off. And NFM card will be next week! After that our money we'd been putting to wedding will go to one of our credit cards. They will both be paid off by the end of the year! I'm excited!!
