Hello Becca and Happy Thanksgiving week! What are you cooking for the holidays? Are you expecting guest?

Pascale - Congratulations on DH starting a new job! How exciting!!! Hope you guys get a chance to visit Montreal!

I only work two days this week. Wednesday will be CPR and First Aid Training, but we get done at noon. Hopefully me and my sis will finally be able to go see Twilight! Looking forward to Thanksgiving since my stepson graciously volunteered to cook for us. Me and DH took him shopping Saturday on the base and he got all the things he needs!!! Been thinking about my mom since last week. She would have been 59 Nov 23, the day after Thanksgiving. I lost my mom last year in April and her favorite holiday was Thanksgiving. Me and my baby sister were cracking up yesterday because some times her birthday would fall on Thanksgiving and when I was 13 and my sister was 10, my mother had me and my other siblings cook the entire thanksgiving dinner! No one could make mac and cheese or her famous dressing! She sure will be missed!

Well, it just keeps getting more and more challenging in my household. Last Friday I was brought in and told I was being laid off immediately. My company was bought by a much larger company this summer, and now they have begun making cuts to staff, and unfortunately, because I am 100 percent overhead, my position was eliminated. For those of you who are Christians, I would covet your prayers! Melody

Hey girls and Happy Thanksgiving week to y'all. :)

This week I'm looking at the Black Friday sales and glad it's a short week. I need some R&R from work. MIL wants to go shopping and needs her shopping partner so I'm pre shopping prices! lol

We will be going to DH's Grandparents house for Thanksgiving and then I'll be visiting my family and a family friend on Friday after shopping, while DH is at work. :( I'm going shopping tonight for my groceries I need for the app and dessert I'm making for Thurs.

Nothing else going on here for us.

Rania - good luck and I'm sure all will go well! Glad you have help too!

Mel - goodness, sending you lots of thoughts and prayers. I know what that's like and I'm sorry. :(

Tressy -Sending thoughts your way for you and your family celebrating w/o your Mom but remember the good times and celebrate her life! *HUGS*

Pascale - congrats on the new job for DH! Exciting stuff!

Becca - What kinds of goodies are you going to be cooking/baking?

@Melody - You are in my prayers! So sorry to hear this! But when God closes a door he opens a window!

@Rania - I was super nervous the first time I hosted a family function! It was overwhelming but my stepson stepped in the day of and helped out tremendously! I am sure you are going to be a great hostess and I can't wait to hear all about it next week!

@Ashley - Thank you so much for your thoughts as we spend our second Thanksgiving without my mom. Believe me, my sister and I are a hoot and all we have been doing is joking and cracking up about my mom! Just happy thoughts and tears. And I give you major thumbs up for going shopping on Black Friday! I went one year and I WILL NEVER DO IT AGAIN!! People are vultures. Wishing you and your family a wonderful holiday!

Wouaw. Looks like you all have pretty fun plans for thanksgiving. I'm so sad it's not a tradition here in Qc...:(. I love family holidays! At least Christmas is coming pretty soon!

@Melody: I'm so sorry for your job. I'll keep you in my prayers for sure.

@Tressy: I'm sure your mom will be watching you and she will love seeing you having so much fun with the ones you love.

@Rania: Damn...32 people?! That's a lot. Glad you had helpers. And good for your hubby that his compagny is going well :).

@Ashley: Hope you'll have fun shopping with your MIL. I admire you...not sure I'd be able to go shopping when there will be so many people in malls.

@becca: You're right...2013 is coming fast :)! I really hope you'd be able to come to MTL...and QC, who knows? It's only a 2-3hours drive from Montreal and we have so many great attractions. Especially during winter!!! Of course I'm a Qc city girl but I truly think that Qc as a little something more than Montreal..hihi!

Holy Moly looks like you all will have a busy but fun Thanksgiving week :) Like Pascale I'm sad that we haven't this in Germany - family holidays are soooooo amazing! But Christmas isn't far away :)

@ Becca: What are you cooking/ baking? Can't wait to see how you decorated your house for Thanksgiving and Christmas :)

@ Pascale: Big Congrats on you DH's new job. And FX that you have the chance to get to Montreal to visit your friends!!

@ Melody: I'm so sorry to hear this bad news with your job. FX that you will find a new good job soon. I will keep you in my prayers!!! HUGS!!!

@ Rania: Wow, 32 guest - you will have a lot to do but great you're getting help from your mom an MIL :)  Also glad that the business from your DH is doing really well and you can help him with the paperwork!

@ Tressy: Sending thoughts your way and I'm sure your Mom will be watching you and your sister. We had the same with my Granny - she made the best apple pie of the world and since she passed away two years ago (2nd Dec.) we never could make this cake like my Granny made it. But I always thinking of her when I'm backing this apple pie

@Ashley: Yeahhh for Black Friday shopping. I will also do a bit but only by online shopping because no Black Friday in Germany :(

Wish you all a wonderful Thanksgiving week!!!

Hi ladies! Wishing you all a great Thanksgiving week.

Like Kathrin and Pascale, we don't celebrate Thanksgiving in Switzerland, but Christmas is just around the corner too :)

I'm doing a lot better, than last week (I was ill, as well as the LO) and I'm glad, because I'm pretty busy at work and at home too. Our LO is so active that the housework takes much more time to get done. Then I decided that I really have to continue and work on different photoalbum projects, like the wedding album, the 1st-year-album of our LO as well as all the holidays of the past 3 years (yes, I know, that's a lot to catch up.) Then I have to make a decision about which photos I want to print on canvas to hang up above our bed. I'm tending towards some great shots from our HM. DH is not a big help in that, he always says: You choose, everything is fine with me :)

Well, not much news from my side. I hope you all have a good week!

Hey Everybody!!

@Mel, I'm so so sorry this happened. Tressy is right, somewhere a window has been opened for you!

@Becca, Ranai, good luck with the cooking and baking! We are going to DH's parents house for Thanksgiving. I would like to help/make more, but MIL always says she has it. Then we end up helping a TON the day of. I'd rather have something to do ahead of time and have it done. lol. Oh well, it's still family time so that's nice. I'm not a huge huge fan of Thanksgiving foods anyways. :o

@Ashley, good luck shopping! Keep your elbows up! We might brave it as well...haven't decided, but I love that you're pre-pricing things. I guess that's the smart thing to do. lol

@everybody not celebrating Thanksgiving, Christmas is super close!

@Olivia, good luck with the picture projects!! It's an undertaking but will be so worth it!

I'm just excited for this weekend. Seeing family and having a few days off work is always nice. Plus we are going to our annual dinner in San Francisco which is one of my favorite traditions ever! That's also with DH's family. HOpefully I can squeeze a little time in my family as well.

Wow @Uhlease sounds like you have something  to look forward to after Thanksgiving  since you don’t really like Thanksgiving dinner :)

My FI and I have decided on what the groomsman will wear.
Also, we are going to complete some homemade Christmas gifts for our family. I am making a special green bean side dish and maybe another side dish for Thanksgiving dinner- We are going to be house jumping on Thanksgiving - then back to work for me!

I hope everyone enjoys this time of the year!

Happy Thanksgiving to my fellow MRS and your families!!!  This is the first time this week I have had some time to read all of your updates and to answer them before I put the turkey in the oven and start the rest of our dinner items.  : )

Tressy - my menu is pretty "normal" Thanksgiving fare this year.  We are having turkey, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, cranberries, homemade rolls, and dessert is pumpkin pie for me and cherry pie for DH.  I have told a few of our friends if they have nowhere to go for the holiday that they are more than welcome to come here.

Melody - I'm so sorry to hear about what happened with work.  I will definitely keep you in my prayers.

Rania - I'm sure you have already started cooking and I am 100% confident that you will be awesome!!!

Ashley - God bless you for going out on Black Friday.  I had heard that they are expecting it to be crazy this year.  I'm sitting out this year, but I will probably go next year.  I hope you have a wonderful time at DH's grandparents house today!

Pascale - I have heard too that Quebec has a lot of great places too, so that me a stop as well.  : )

Kathrin - Since I'm not familiar with the traditions outside of the US and Canada, do you guys in Germany celebrate a holiday that is similar to Thanksgiving?  Oooh, that might be one of my 2013 things to learn about - different holidays in all of the countries.  : )  I really didn't decorate too much for Thanksgiving with my schedule, but I will most definitely be decorating for Christmas.  I'll be sure to take pics.

Olivia - I want to do that photo book each year too.  My mom used to take notebook sheets and each holiday and birthday, she would do a little writeup.  I still have them saved in my scrapbook container.  : )  I'm sure the other ladies would offer their help to select some pics for your canvases.

Elise - That is how my MIL is too.  I offer help to her and she says that she doesn't need it, but then when we show up, she's running around and I end up helping out anyway.  This year, with everything that has happened, we were not even going to make a traditional dinner, but we did and decided to just stay at home together.  I hope you have a great day!

Amberglam - I hope you guys enjoy your holiday and congrats on deciding what the guys are wearing.  I have to work this evening and then throughout the rest of the holiday weekend, but the best part of this is that I work at home, so I don't mind.

Whew,I think I got everyone.

I hope you ladies have an amazing day today with your families, husbands, and friends!!!!
