Good morning fellow wives!!
Good morning Becca. All is well with me and my husband. We are still waiting for our January appointment with the neurologist, but I was at least able to get him out on a little day trip Saturday to lighten the mood. . . . which we really needed . . . not only because of the stroke, but on Friday during my lunch hour, someone rear-ended our car while I was stopped at a red light. Nobody was hurt, but the car is pretty banged up. The disgusting part of the whole thing is that the young woman who hit me . . . wait for it . . . was reading a book while she was driving.
Wow! Happy Monday to you all! I am happy to hear that you all were able to look on the bright side of things- life can be full of so many surprises. I am in the beginning of my wedding planning and I just wanted to be more active on the boards. I hope all gets better for you all :)
RaniaK What you are doing is awesome!! It is so unfortunate that the lives of so many people changed from one day to another :/
Hey there, ladies! Just popping my head in to say hi. Not anything unusual this week--it's the end of the grading period, which means I'm staying up at work until about 5 p.m. every day to be there for students to make up grades or correct tests. However, I am taking Friday off, but it's not for fun. DH and I have never really been able to get organized around the house, so since he's off and I'm off, we're going to take a day to tackle it together, and hopefully it'll be easier for us to upkeep once we've done this.
@ melsmith You are so strong - you can be really proud of you!! To handle all these things at the moment must be very hard. Love to here that you were able to have a nice time off on Saturday only to relax and enjoy life! It's really important in this moments to stay positive. Hope your appt in January will go smoothly and that you only get good news, as Rania said. Sending you lots of prayers and positive thoughts your way!!! And for luck nothing happend to you while the car accident - to read a book while driving is irresponsible!
@ Rania Wow what a great job you did to help other people who were really hurt by "Sandy" So proud of you!!! It would be better if more than one would think the way you do. So Volunteering is so awesome! Hope everthing will get better soon in the areas which were hurt much from "Sandy". FX for this!!!
Here everthing is ok. Still house hunting *boohhh* - it's so exhausting. Since we haven't got the house we were in love with (posted it last week) we had now an other house in our eye. We viewed it last friday and the offer sound really good. Yesterday we called the agent and offerd a price, so now we are waiting on an answer from the agent and the owners :/ So please please please pray for us, that we will now have so much luck to get this beauty and that there a now no other interested people on it!!! It would be soooo unbelievable if we could get it. It has a pool (a really big indoor pool) and a sauna - so you would have your own wellness oase :) And it is only 100 m till the big city park and the open air bath in Emsdetten. So please FX for us Ladies :)
Have a nice week!!! :)
Happy Tuesday ladies. DH and I and some friends were in Vegas over the weekend. Let's just say we "donated" some money to the city...I'm glad to hear everything is going well for everybody.
@Melsmith-I can't believe she was reading while driving! Who does that?!? And I'm so glad you're ok, and hope the appt in Jan brings positive news.
@Rania-That's great that you're volunteering like that. I can't imagine knowing my neighbors (or people close) have had something so horrible happen. That's great your house is coming along :) We're still SLOWLY unpacking. I chose this morning since I don't work until 11am, to organize my crafts and try to consolidate.
@Christina-Good luck with all the grading and testing! Sometimes it's nice to have a day off together to just finish what needs to be done. It really helps sometimes.
As for me this week...even though it's already Wednesday...just more unpacking. It's almost been three weeks since we moved, so I'm getting tired of it not being done. We should have all day Saturday to just clean up. Then my nephew is being baptized on Sunday so we are going down to see my family, I'm excited for that!!
@Germanbride-FX for you!!! How great would it be to get that house! Keep us updated!
Hi Becca! How are you?
@MelSmith - Wow! You have a lot going on and I am sending you prayer and hugs! Thank God no one was hurt and I want to bang in that ridiculous woman's face that hit your car!
@Rania - Awwww!!! You and your husband are a godsend! How fabulous that you and hubby were able to do such a wonderful deed! My heart is swelling with pride that you did such an awesome thing! Glad you and hubby made it through safely!
@Amberglam - I can't wait to see your planning come together and so happy you have joined our PW family!
@Christina - Sounds like you are superbusy! You and DH take time to kiss and rub noses Friday!
@GermanBride - Got my fingers and toes crossed for your new house! And yes, house hunting is very exhausting and can be down right heartbreaking when you fall in love with a house and it slips right through your fingers!
@Elise - Happy to hear the packing will be over soon and that is so great you get to see your family at your nephew's baptism!
I have been super busy at work!
OKay, I have completed most of my calls/emails, etc and I'm sitting down to PW for awhile. : )
The last week or so has been sort of a blur with all the hurricane/Nor'easter stuff going on. While our home did not sustain any damage (just a little bit of leaking in the basement - Thank you God!), our neighborhood sustained a tremendous amount of downed trees, power issues, etc. My family down near Atlantic City sustained a great deal of damage, so I'm trying to assist in getting them supplies down there. We are trying to get some compensation for me being out of work for a week (no internet) and we will be having to jump through some hoops for that. Crossing my fingers we can. Unfortunately, my spirit has been very troubled since the hurricane, as I was so excited thinking that we were going to be able to spend Thanksgiving with my family down in GA, but we are not able to do so. That has had me down for a few days, but I'm coping. I know that things will eventually get back to normal - the last year has been a very trying time - but my faith is strong and I will get through this. : )
@mel - I cannot believe that that girl was reading a book while driving!!! Oh my gosh!! I'm so glad that you guys were able to get out for a little bit. I am hoping that your husband will finally be able to get the diagnosis and treatment that he needs. I'm keeping you both in my prayers.
@Rania - I'm so glad that you guys did not suffer major destruction from the storm - although I've seen so many pictures of NYC, it's so heartbreaking. That is SO AWESOME of you, your family and friends to volunteer!!! I saw your pictures that you posted and your home is absolutely gorgeous!!!
@Christina - that is good to hear that you are having a day for you and DH to organize.
@Kathrin - Oh dear, I can totally relate to house hunting woes. We saw at least 12 or so houses before we found what we thought was the one. Made an offer, some issue came up and we had to go back to square one. The home that we are in now (my new love) is SO perfect for us and I have to say that I'm glad that we didn't get the other home, because we would not have been in such an awesome community. : ) I will keep you and DH in my thoughts that you find the ONE!
@Elise - LOL about "donating" some money to Las Vegas - that is such a great line!!! I'm glad that you are getting your unpacking done, as that had to be my least favorite thing of moving. Enjoy your time with your family!!!
@Tressy - It's good to be busy at work, right? I hope you and DH are enjoying some quiet and down time after work.
Hey Becca! Sorry your spirit is down but happy your faith is strong! I am thankful you didn't have any major issues with the hurricane but it is so sad that it affected so many especially around the holidays. I will keep you uplifted in prayer!
Work is so busy because the owner got a contract for us to do respite services for seniors. My manager is driving me nuts because she is pretending like she is excited about this new venture and the growth, but she is really not. One day she is talking to me like I am an indentured servant and the next she is sugar and spice. I don't really know my role in all of this yet and I have been asking a lot of questions because I don't want to be bombarded with a ton of stuff at the last minute. For whatever reason, the owner has the manager creating forms which I should be doing and what is annoying is my manager is not computer savvy, so every 10 minutes she is calling me in her office to do something, fix something or show her how to do something. Then the other employees have to do training on the computer for this month and that is annoying because they too are not computer literate. This week has been crazy! I am the adminsistrative assistant but I also got trained to do direct care work for adults who are mentally disabled. The company I work for is a vocational program who services this community so it is also annoying that I had to change diapers today in heels and a suit! I hope when all settles down that I will be getting a raise so I can quit my second job. Originally I took on the second job to aid with the wedding, but there have been numerous changes at my husband's job, so I kept the job for extra money.
I did however cut down my days at second job, so I only work two days a week and no weekends, so I have been so loving the extra time with hubby and our furbabies!
Thanks Tressy!! Things will take time to get better, but as long as we continue going forward, I believe we shall all get through this. : ) xoxo
Wow, it does sound like your job can be very stressful at times, especially with the boss. : )
I just found this thread- November 5th was DH and mine 1 year anniversary!
Because of the storm we couldn't go out to the very romantic NY city restuarunt that we planned on. We instead stayed in Jersey and went to this other local romantic place, but I've been there many times before so there wasn't anything new to try or exciting. But it was our 1st anniversary and it was amazing.
Then the next day was my birthday! And I got cake- which is all I ever really wanted. :)
