Hey Becca! In my head I've started to think about the Holidays, but since we have been married just two weeks now, we still have a lot of crap stuff around our apartment. Also, we realized that our lease isn't a whole year like we thought, so we may be moving very soon into a bigger apartment. Once all of that is settled...I will definitely think about the holidays!

But DH did mention last night that we should have good halloween costumes this year! haha. WHat about you??

Hey ladies!

I am ALL about the holidays right now -- in my head, as Elise said. LOL! I am SO excited for this time of year. In a way, these will be our first "married" holidays because DH was deployed last year. So we get to start all of our new traditions this year!

We are hosting Thanksgiving at our house for some of our friends who are stationed here in South Carolina. I am beyond excited to host and prepare dinner for a big group! It makes me feel like such an adult! Ha!

Elise - I am at that point too right now - planning in my head.  LOL

Debbie- YAY for your "first" holiday season.  It's so cool that you are hosting a dinner. Can't wait to hear all about it.

I have been planning in my head, saving a few decorating ideas that I want to make, but I will not start doing anything until after our second anniversary.  We have so many things going on over the next few weeks that I can only plan on paper and the computer.  Here is what we have going on:

  • This Saturday, we are heading into NYC for the San Gennaro festival (I promise to be posting tons of pictures).

  • Sunday, we are going to go and get sheet rock and insulation for our living room and start prepping for the following weekends renovation of the walls - finally getting rid of the knotty pine that is now our living room walls.  Our home was built as a summer lake home and there is no insulation in the living room and with fall coming, we want to get this room done so we can cut down on our heating costs.  : )

  • I also have to find a hotel for the weekend of Oct 6th, as we are taking a mini weekend trip to Buffalo to see my mom's family (for the first time since she passed - family drama) and then we are heading down south a little bit to go to the cemetary where my mom is.  I'm hoping to take DH to Niagara Falls sometime during this weekend trip, as he has never been there.  I'm also planning on calling the bakery that did our wedding cake and seeing if they can make a mini one so we can have it to celebrate our 2nd anniversary along with my cotton gift that I have to come up with.

Work-wise, it's picked up, both with my MT work and also with the holidays coming around, Avon is probably going to get crazy busy too.  : )

I am getting so excited for the holidays! We are hosting Thanksgiving at our house this year and I am really looking forward to cooking for everybody and enjoying our time together.

However, nothing is really getting started. We want to finish redecorating our living room and dining room before then, but my sister's wedding is fast approaching. Since she and her FI are stationed at in Colorado Springs, I have been doing everything...exactly a month to go---I am ready for it to zip by!!

@Elise-Don't you hate having all of that wedding stuff staring you in the face? Ours sat for months before I did anything with it haha!

@Debbie-So excited for you to have T home for the holidays!! I bet you guys are so thrilled to be able to celebrate.

@Becca-I totally stalk your home remodel pics on facebook--I am so impressed!! I wish DH and I were handy enough to do the things you guys have!

Hi dear ladies! I'm so excited for you guys to celebrate Thanks giving. We don't celebrate is over here.

Becca, what is the Gennaro Festival? I've never heard about it.

Debbie & missjess: this is so exciting to host the Thanks giving party!

Elise: you will have to post pics of your halloween costumes ;-)

As you know, this week is a very very sad one for our family (see my previous post in this group) and I feel like EVERYTHING has changed... I just can't think about anything at the moment, except taking it day by day and be here for the family, for my sister and her family. Even though we were and still are devastated, we celebrated a little bit our LOs first birthday on Monday evening. DH baked a chocolate cake and Fabrice loved it. We had some close friends staying with us, which was good, regarding the situation. We didn't want to be alone. Apart from that I went to work, it's so calm at the moment, and on Wednesday I spent the afternoon at my sisters (with Fabrice), just beeing there for her. My parents were there too, and my BILs sister with family. It was very peaceful and I was so impressed how calm my sister was. Fabrice was really sweet, like if he felt that everyone is sad. I'm glad that my sister and her DH have their daughter Selina. She is five and she's giving them a lot of strength, comfort and confidence.

Well, this weekend I will be going to my parents place with LO, as DH is not here, and so I won't be alone. Hi dear ladies I photo 3405728-1

Take care and have a nice weekend!

Oliva - the San Gennaro festival is a 10-day Italian festival in New York City.  We, unfortunately, did not make it out on Saturday because I woke up feeling horrible (I think it was just exhaustion).

Everyone sounds like they are enjoying being married and I'm soooo happy for all of us!!
