Weight Gain

Ok I know, no woman, EVER wants to discuss weight, but I'm kind of nervous I'm gaining too fast.  I weight myself this morning at 18 weeks and I've gained 10 lbs!  Is that too much?  Anyone have any website that has a good chart on how much you should gain and stuff.  I'm not even half way through yet!

If you are eating healthy (most if the time - you need treats when you're growing a little person!) then try not to worry.
I put on about 50lb with my boys, I know there were 2 of them but it was still a lot, within a couple of weeks of their arrival I was back down to within about 5lb of pre-baby weight.

I think it also depends how tall/big you were pre-pregnancy. I'm 5"8 and was about 5-10 lbs overweight beforehand and gained a total of 26 lbs. I also would gain moderately -some appts. I gained 2 or 3 lbs over a couple week period and one I gained 7 lbs (in a week!!) toward the end but then the next week I hadn't gained anything. I guess what I'm trying to say is that you can gain more at the beginning and then balance out toward the end -I was the opposit -actually lost 5 lbs in the first trimester because I was too sick to eat a whole lot but then made up for it after my second trimester since I felt a lot better.

*Nicki -I'm jealous -after a couple of weeks!? I'm 4 1/2 months PP and I still have to lose most of the baby weight lol. Though I didn't/don't breastfeed and supposedly that speeds the process.

My midwife gave me a folder with all kinds of info and it included a chart like what you said. I'm sure there's a bunch of stuff like that on the internet somewhere. All I know is that in the very last weeks, you're supposed to gain about a pound a week if you're a healthy weight, you should gain between 25 to 30 pounds in total. As for me, I'm still in the barfy mode so I'm not gaining crap yet lol

I fed both my boys, I really was feeding ALL THE TIME! They never fed well when I tried to feed them together so I fed them separately a lot which meant I fed #1, then #2 straight after and then got maybe an hour before #1 was ready to go again! I was exhausted.
I only really put on 'bump weight', from behind you couldn't tell that I was pregnant - I will find piccies, it's hilarious because my bump was huge - I definitely look heavier now because my shape has changed but my weight isn't much different. It's very weird.

I know "What to Expect when you're Expecting" has a chart of how much you should gain.

I'm 24 weeks and am at my starting weight. I lost about 8lbs at the beginning due to sickness and haven't had much of an appetite.

I am 13 weeks and I've gained 5 lbs.  I feel like that's kind of a lot for the first trimester, because most women I know didn't gain any.  I'm eating a big more I would say, but it's healthy food and I'm STARVING.  I would say check in with your doctor to see if they are raising any red flag.  I know for example, like the PP said, if you were very slender to begin with you are expected to gain more.

DH was concernced bc i'm not gaining yet.  guess the grass is always greener on the other side in the weight gain situation!  i'm sure your doctor's will let you know if it's too much too fast or too little, but i think as long as you're eating healthy and everything is normal, it doesn't matter how or when you gain.
