Weight Watchers anyone?

Hi Fellow Wedding Planners :)

My finance proposed to me in May and at that point I was at my highest weight ever-- 164 lbs. I should be around 140, but the 20+ lbs snuck up on me through college, working and my attempt at a social life. After the proposal (and then seeing myself in my best friends wedding pictures as her bridesmaid) I saw that I really needed to change because I didn't want to look this way anymore and I didn't want my wedding pictures to show me at this weight.

I joined weight watchers with a girlfriend from work. We do the online version and don't attend the meetings (I just dont have time!). So far I have lost 8 lbs. I have 16 left to go and was wondering if any of you other folks have been using weight watchers or have used it in the past. How does/did it work for you??

I am on weight watchers and it works really well when I actualyl follow the program.  I find the meetings really help keep me motivated.  This is my second time on the program.  First time i lost 50 lbs but allowed 40 of them to creep back on with house renovations and quiting smoking.  It is a good program and it does work.

Dont allow yourself to get hungry and keep a snack in your purse (carrots, apple etc).  It really helps avoid starving yourself.

Great work on the 8 lbs.  You can totally lose it all.

I did weight watchers for a while a couple years ago but it didn't really do much for me.  I lost a few pounds but I didn't care for the point system at all and I found better success counting my actual calories and protein/carbs/fat, etc.

My sis had good success with WW though. Good luck!

Shauneen--That's a really good tip to have snacks available at all times. Im going to have to make sure to do this once my classes start up in a couple weeks. I am constantly snacking while in class, and healthy things are way better than my normal bag of chips.

I'm on WW for the 2nd time again (online only). The first time around I lost over 20 lbs in about 2 months. I just went exercise crazy. I've allowed most of the weight to come back, so now I'm on a mission to take it off before the wedding in April. I'm happiest when I'm 135 to 140... so that's my goal now. I find the online tools work great as long as I'm consistent in using them.

We should start a WW recipe thread.. with points :) Some of the recipes I've tried are just horrid.. but I have found a few that are tasty or can be modified to be tasty.

Hey rovaqt-- a WW recipe thread woudl be cool. I just find myself eating a LOT of salad to keep my points low. I"m also trying for the 135-140 range. I really like the online tools, and since I'm on my computer a lot so it's easy for me to track everything.

I started WW last Sept in attempts to lose the last 10 pounds post baby, I did it and lost another 18.  I was happiest at my lowest (132, I'm 5' 1"), but after changing jobs and taking a pay cut, I had to stop attending meetings and I let myself go up to 149.  I've rejoined this past month and just wasn't into it again like I was at the beginning.  This past weekend I went to my first meeting and I'm so happy to be back!  It's my focus on me time ( I have a 18mo), and I am determined to get back down to 132 before the new year!  I just find myself to be a happier me when I'm taking care of myself and eating healthy.

Good luck on WW, the program works if you follow it and stick to it.  It's developing a new lifestyle.

I just started the weight watchers diet today!  I have had the best luck in the past with weight watchers, it is the easiest diet for me to follow.  I am looking to loose about 20 lbs at least

I was on WW years ago and while I was gung-ho and perfect on the program, I lost weight like crazy.

Then I fell off the wagon, and subsequent attempts to get back on always failed.

I think I lack the willpower and discipline to follow the program to the extent that is required for success.  But it works GREAT for lots of people!

I have lost 17 lbs since march doing Weight Watchers. I've fallen off the wagon a bit due to stress lately but I'm back at it again. My goal is to lose another 50-60lbs. My goal now is to add in excercise which I haven't really been doing at all.

I'm on WW as well. I find that I have to do it and I'll have to do it for life. No other diet plans work for me...so this time I'm determined to be successful. I'm on my 7th week back and have lost 14 lbs. My goal was to loose 35 lbs before the wedding so I'm almost 1/2 way there and I've got 10 months until the wedding.

Sometimes the tracking doesn't always work for me, especially on the weekends but I'm resolved to be a better point tracker on the weekends.

Wow Kimberly you've lost so much!! Congrats! You can totally make the 35 by your wedding with 10 months to do it! I really like the program and it's teachign me to watch what i eat.

I find too that my tracking is not possible on weekends. i'm jsut not around a computer enough to do it and I normally and not in much control over my meals so I just do my best to stay around what my points are.

WW didn't work for me at all. But I have a crazy slow metabolism and the whole eating 6 times a day just doesn't work for me.

Thanks Megs! It's true, I sit my tracker at my desk during the week and write down everything...on the weekends it somehow gets lost in my purse! But this weekend, I've got some good plans to stay on track with my tracker!

you can do it Kim!! I don't even own a tracker (which i feel like is a huge WW no-no!) I don't do the meetings either, but I follow the program through their online system and there is an electronic tracker on there that i use.

I tried about 10 years ago but I honestly didn;t commit myself.  I have some close friends that swear by this plan and it is one of the few that has the greatest results for maintaining the weight loss...From what I hear!

I just weighed in for the week and I'm down 1.5 lbs, and 12 total with WW!!

I feel like an infomorcial, but this seriously works! It's taken me 13 weeks to do this, but I know I'm losing the right way, and I'll be able to keep it off much easier than other fad diets... Yay!!
