Welcome! Please introduce yourself :)

Hi ladies! Welcome to Project Fertility! I created this group in the hopes that those of us who are facing infertility have a place to come together, share stories and offer support during this time.

My name is Jennifer and I also have PCOS. I have tried to conceive in the past with the help of Metformin and Clomid and had no luck. I have an appt with a specialist to talk about starting Femara, which is actually a breast cancer drug but has an effect on PCOS. 2 of my friends who also have PCOS and have tried Clomid with no result, BOTH conceived their children with the help of Femara so I am hoping it works for me too!!! My appt in on Feb 7th so wish me luck!!!

Valerie, what treatments have you been trying??

Hi!  I'm Jennifer and we've been TTC for a few months.  I've been charting but not temping and really don't think that I've been O'ing.  :/  My cycle has been really strange the last few months also.  The last 2 months it's only lasted a day and very light. It really has me worried because I got a BFN so that's not the reason.

I have a doctors appointment on the 14th and am looking forward to talking to my doc.  I'm 33 and DH is 37 so we will see.

I'm Tara. I've been off BC for 6 months. Up until this past cycle, we were just doing the wait and see what happens thing. I did go for my yearly yesterday and he is talking about maybe putting me on Clomid to shorten my cycles. So I'm hoping we all get BFP's soon!

I'm Angela and I have PCOS as well. DH and I are on our second cycle of clomid. The first cycle (50mg) did not work and this month I took 100mg of clomid. I have also been taking 500mg Metformin since November. I am currently waiting to get the results of my progesterone test back to see if the clomid worked this cycle and to see where we are at now. So stressful to wait for something and not have any control over the outcome!

The doctor said if the 100mg does not work then she would like me to have a test done to see if there are any blockages that may be in my fallopian tubes.

Hi I'm Tara :) Im not currently TTC but we will start after our May 21, 2011 wedding! It might seem weird since im not even trying to conceive yet but I know we will have our work cut out for us so its nice to have a group with other girls who are going threw the same thing!  I don't have fertility issues but will have a hard time TTC its kind of TMI but when dealing with this subject it usually is lol Here is a short story about my condition... I have severe uterine prolapse, severe cystocele, and slight rectocele with an elongated cervix... Luckily I found a site I can go to with other women with the same problem (the dr's kept telling me this usually doesn't happen in women until the are over 60) I found this not as true as they though I have found many women my age with it so that was kind of comforting... They wanted to just do a partial hysterectomy to fix it but I told them I wanted to TTC first... Some of them seemed sceptic but other seems to think I can :) Sorry if its TMI it honestly just felt really good to be able to tell someone about it! Its not really something you just bring up in a convo so I hold a lot of it in!

I'm Alison. I was diagnosed with PCOS in 2006 and DH and I started TTC a little over a year ago. I have been on 1500mg Metformin since Sept 2010 and am now on my 2nd cycle of Clomid. If this cycle doesn't work my OB wants me to continue trying with 150mg but I am going to ask about Femera since I know A LOT of ladies with PCOS who had no luck with Clomid and Femera worked for them.

Hi I am Amanda. I had a hard time trying to conceive and had a pregnancy loss. My left ovary produces a large amount of cyst. I am pregnant now but I am hoping I can help someone along there journey. I had to learn a lot of information and find out a bunch of things that I am hoping I can pass along.

It is so nice to hear from all of you wonderful ladies!  I'm glad we have each other to talk to... I know I need to talk a lot since I don't feel comfortable talking to most people about this kinda stuff... seems like close friends and family just look at me sideways since I think it is uncomfortable for them to talk about these issues...

That being said... my name is Maggie.  I've been TTC since a couple months before my wedding last year (yes, I was actually hoping to be pregnant on my wedding day :))... Well, that didn't happen and now it's been a year with no luck and more and more medical problems piling up since last summer.  I'm starting to get the right meds for my conditions (not related to fertility), but one of them (a high blood pressure med) is a category C for the 1st trimester and turns into a category D for the 2nd and 3rd trimesters so I'm pretty bummed right now.  Hopefully I'll just take this high blood pressure med for a couple months and get back to TTC soon...

I wish you all the best in your journey!  And hopefully we can turn our fertility issues into BFP's soon!

My name is Michelle. We've been TTC for nearly 18 months. Aside from a slightly low progesterone level (which is easily remedied), both my tests and my husband's have come back totally normal. We've been lumped into the "unexplained infertility" camp. We've done 3 cycles on Clomid, combined with back to back IUI's. No results. This month I'm onto injectibles, turning myself into a human pincushion. I turn 35 in two months, and since we're trying for our first...can you hear my biological clock ticking? ;)

Hi ladies, I just wanted to introduce myself and say thank you for starting this new group. It's sometimes hard being in a TTC room where people get their BFP in their first month of trying.

Me (31) and my DH (28) have been TTC'ing since November 2009. We have since been to a Fertility Specialist (FS) here in South Africa and it was found that I have a very low Ovarian Reserve as well as Stage 3 Endometriosis.

DH's sperm also isn't so hot which makes it virtually impossible for us to conceive naturally.

We did our first IVF last year October. We retrieved 4 eggs, put back 2 perfect embryos and ended up with a BFN :-(

My endo is back and so I have to have another lap before my next IVF. We have decided to give ourselves a break this year and do our next treatment in December. I have to go onto the pill until then to stop the endo from getting worse.

This IF journey is a tough one...

Good luck to all of you!

Hi my name is Dana. DH and I got married in Oct. 09 and we started TTC right away. I was diagnosed with PCOS in April of this year, though I had a guess I had it before then. I have been on Metformin since then and am on cycle #3 of clomid, 2nd cycle that it worked. Hoping to see a bfp soon. It is nice to have others who are going through the same thing as I am about to give up any hope it will happen for us.

Oops! I joined this group on the first day but forgot to post here.

My name is Jady. Dh and I got married in Sept 2010. I am 35 and DH is 37. I went off of bc 3 cycles before the wedding in the hopes of getting pregnant before the wedding or shortly thereafter. We are on attempt/cycle #9. I am currently seeing an RE but we are only in the early stages of testing(HSG,SA and a progesterone test later this week). We don't know what is going on, yet, and hope to figure it out soon. I have always had a deep fear that when the time came I would run into some difficulties. I was with someone before DH for almost 10 years and not even a scare. I fear that we won't be able to figure out what is going on in time. I feel the pressure of time and we desparately want children.
Thank you girls for being so open and gracious with your own struggles. It can be a comfort just to know that you are not alone in your fears and struggles.
Baby dust to all! :)

Hi, I am Corrie, DH and I have been TTC since Nov of 2010 as we were married Oct30. Thought I was a few times, but nope.  I have been charting BBT and found I have a short Luteal phase, anywhere from 7 to 9 days, which is too short for a fertilized egg to implant.  SO I am going to be increasing my B6 intake through diet to see if that will help.  We have no medical insurance, so treatments are not possible. I am glad to find this group to be part of support and have somewhere to run where ladies really understand.  thanks for creating the group!!!

Hi I'm Adrianna, I was diagnosed with PCOS at the age of 13, had been on BC since then till I was 22 (I took myself off BC because that is when I had met my husband and knew then he would be the one I'd be spending the rest of my life with, so I've heard when your on BC for so long you need to let it run its course of getting out of your body so to speak) well its been 3 years now off of BC and still no luck. At one point a year ago Hubby & I had started seeing a fertility specialist after doing so many months of clomid and having no luck. When we saw the fertility specialist, he stated that I was ovulating but still my AF was irregular, we tested my husbands sperm count which in turn was a low count also (so thankfully I didn't feel like I was the only one in this alone, I knew that we both are facing fertility challenges together). Since then we've tested his sperm count 3 times, gotten tons of blood work, periods here and there, I even had a Hysterosalpingogram done and the doc said my fallopian tubes didn't seem blocked... So here I am today a year later back at TTC once again (then we had focused on other things like planning the wedding because I had lost my health insurance). So ladies we are not alone in this, I just wish it was easier than what it is... Good luck nonetheless to all of us, and thanks to those who have experienced it and continue to give us hope.

Hi I am Katrina, I have been trying to conceive for many years, just recently had surgery and had one fallopian tube removed, a polyp in my uterus and cysts in each ovary removed, my insurance company denied my IVF pre auth and now they have said I am not an appropriate candidate for IUI so my dr is appealing the IVF denial and I am hoping it gets approved now, I am 40 and have had a 20 year history of endometriosis, cysts and many surgeries.

Hi! My name is Nikki. And I'm so glad to have access to such a supportive group since my DH & I recently had to deal with an EP about three months ago. Fortunately, we found out the cause which was a large, obstructing fibroid that I had removed last month. With all that being said, we have decided to go with IVF instead of TTC-ing naturally because I'm terrified of having to endure another loss. However, my GYN is completely shocked that I would decide to go this route.

Please feel free to give me any advice regarding IVF treatments and medications. Or feel free to give me your opinion about deciding to partake in IVF when we could TTC naturally. Thanks!

Hi everyone!  I'm Teri and my husband and I have been ttc for over a year now.  I have been going through a lot of testing lately (no U/S's though) and I have a feeling that I'm going to be diagnosed with PCOS.  I've never had a regular period and I have other symptoms that I've recently found out are related to or caused by PCOS - so my gut tells me (and has for a while now) that I probably have PCOS.

We haven't tested Anton's fertility as of yet, but are focusing on getting me balanced and ovulating again.  It's been a frustrating journey so far, but right now it feels good to be headed on a path rather then wandering blindly.  Hopefully something that one of these doctors does will help me to concieve.
