What are some things you do together and things you do apart?

I think my biggest reality check was making sure that I had my own things going on outside of my relationship. FI lives and breathes tennis. I enjoy watching and playing the sport but it's not something I live and breathe. I had a hard time finding hobbies and other things I enjoyed when I first met FI. We were just always together ALL of the time and it became a little frustrating so now I am working on finding things that I like to do again.

Even though we become one in marriage, we are still both individual people and it's always important to remember that. What are some activities that you all do together and what are some things you like to do individually?

~We travel together, play tennis together, go out to eat/lounges/clubs together but for me, I enjoy reading, exercising, hanging out with my friends, surfing the net, shopping (of course), volunteering/mentoring, cooking, museums....I just had to find myself again and once I did that, things were MUCH better.

Any thoughts, issues or conflicts? Please share :-)

He is obsessed with basketball and pretty much any other sport that comes on TV.  He's also a bb caoch for a high school team so he is constantly talking about it.  Ugh.  I'm a tomboy and I love watching football and basketball but I'm not like living and breathing it as he does.  Occasionally we watch games together (because he is unfortunately in control of the remote -- I think its an extension of...nevermind) anyway, but mostly that's HIS thing.

I love reading books, going to dinner with friends, writing, being on PW (LOL) and working out.  I go to the gym just about everyday while he is at home being a lazy couch potato.

As far as what we enjoy together, well, we LOVE to travel.  He's a cheapscate so he doesn't like to spend the money on going places but once I convince him to go HE'S STOKED.  SO that's our thing.  We also LOVE spending time with FAMILY and going out to eat. We LOVE to eat. Oh and spending time together.  We love cuddling.  LOL

I know what you mean, when we first moved in together after we got engaged we started spending literary every minute outside of work together and no matter how much you LOVE you FI/husband too much time together = frustration. But we learned that lesson easily. We love our time together, going out for sushi and pho, going to the movies, hiking, working out together. But every time he picks up his Xbox controller I am OUTTA THERE haha. It gives me the chance to read or watch shows he hates like the countless wedding shows I am obsessed with. He also loves poker, so his poker nights become my girls night out! Its definitely great to have things in common and important to want to spend time together, but you need to keep your individuality when you get married or you just won't be happy!

Dh works the midnight shift .... it sucks that we only sleep together 2 out of every 6 days ....but with all the kids in teh house I think this is a blessing in disguise ....

There isn't much time nor money for either of us to spend on any outside interests ....thankfully we both love music , and just love hanging on the couch watching movies or the shows we watch together on the nights he is off ....

I get plenty of time in the evenings while the kids have gone to bed and he is gone to work to just chill out with a glass of wine , read , listen to music or whatever ... its my "unwinding"  time and I treasure it ....

He gets up in the afternoon and has the house to himself for a few hours before the kids get home .... and I think it works for us ...right now we live for the kids ... our time will come and then we will travel :)

Oh man. . .tons of stuff.

We are polar opposite when it comes to some things.

He can sit and watch football ALL day on Sunday. . .I would rather be out and about or practicing viola. . .so I do.  He'll watch football and I'll hang out on PW or go out.

Both of us hike and climb.  *But*, my idea of climbing and his are TOTALLY different.  He's a monkey.  He climbs 5th class mountains without ropes . . . loves exposure and sketchy precarious moves and. . .me?  He knows better than to take me on some climbs because I get vertigo and freak out.

So, he'll go climb sketchy stuff and I'll stay safely on the ground!

Together. . .we hike, travel, go on road trips, eat (we love love love good food), and go on walks - I LOVE our walks and we do 3+ miles anytime we can, usually everyday in the summer when it's warm.

I love having my own identity!  Now that we live in CO, we do more things together.

Together: watching Football, UFC, and College Basketball; Hiking, videogames, dancing, traveling, volunteer work/charities, off roading, concerts, cooking, bars/lounges/cigar shops and wine tasting...mmmm

Me- reading, PW **smiles**, shopping, painting, art shows/galleries, poetry shops, and spa days

Him- fishing, hunting (this makes me sad), camping (i don't camp unless it's in a RV with running water or glamping), and building stuff
