what do you consider plus size?

i hope i dont offend anyone here im just curious being an 18-20 myself i would consider that the start of plus size, but why is it now anything over a 12 is considered plus size?? does the media not relize that the majority of people now are what they call plus size? i hate that i cant go into a store and find my size, i need to go into a specialty shop(which do have some fabulous things) but it just really puts me down to have to go to different stores than my friends........ and the worst no being able to try on wedding dresses and then being told its an extra cost because its plus  size

I consider plus size any size that ends in w and anything over 18.
I remember in high school (Before I had my son) I was a size 13 in juniors and when I had just started a new school I went to sit with a group of girls and was told I was "Too fat" to sit with them. Then made fun of me and called me a bunch of names from then until I graduated. Everyone always considered me "Plus size" even then.

It's called not starving myself, I am not naturally stick thin. Sorry. I know some people are but I also know most of us aren't. :-) I don't think I would want to be anyway, curvy girls look more womanly to me anyway. :-)

I think at 16 and up is plus size. Though I must say going to places like Ashely Stewart and still not being able to find a 18 is irritating, but there are plenty of 12's. Its like they want us to starve ourselves to fit in. Well NEWSFLASH some of those skinny minnie's need to EAT. YEAH I SAID IT they hungry. How do I know? I use to be a size 4 LOL. But the average size women is a 14 so I guess 16 on up is plus size.

To me plus sized starts at 16. It makes me sick when I see ppl sizes 12 & 14 considered "plus size"

Are we talking a size 16 or a size 16W?- the fit is different.

According to the fashion industry anything above an 8 is considered plus.  I used to plus model and I'm on the smaller side of plus 12-14.  Now my main problem is that I'm usually to big for "standard" clothing and too small for "plus" clothing.  I did a fashion show once and because I was a size 12 they sent me to Ashley Stewart to find something to wear.  By the time I hit the runway I had about 50 million pins cinching everything together.

Do you know what's funny??? The ONLY sizes that have not changed in over a century are the sizes you find in a pattern from the fabric store.  Those sizes have been the same since the late 1800's.  My mom used to make all the costumes for our high school's musical- the size 0s and 2s were mortified to discover that they were really 8sand 10s! All sizes have been changed for vanity.  Marlyn Monroe was a size 16, but by today's standards she'd be about an 8.  A size 10 now has about 3 inches more in the waist then a size 10 from the 1970's.  And don't get me started on the fact that the size measurements change from designer to deisgner.  So size really doesn't have any weight- does it fit and do you feel amazing is all that matters!
