What do you think?

I've been gone for about a month ladies...so I'm having fun catching up on all of the posts and seeing who joined the BFP club :)

We had our anatomy ultrasound yesterday, and it was great.  We are having a gender reveal party next weekend, so the technition wrote what were were having in a sealed envelope along with the picture :) ...and she did not reveal it to us.

She said she was 100% sure she knew the gender of the baby.

I gave the envelope to my friend to make the cake.  Our family is driving a long distance for our party, so we are sooo excited about finding out with everyone.

But then, someone I know who is an US tech, said since our tech said she was 100% sure, we are having a boy.  She said techs don't say that unless it's a boy.

I'm a little pissed because I feel like her saying that is almost ruining the surprise....you know?  I guess my question is, is it possible to have a girl and the US technician be 100% sure?  I don't know much about this!

I still want it to be a surprise! :(

Typically yes... If they can see the "goods" they can be more sure.... But our tech was sure it was a girl at only 16 weeks...it just depends on if baby is in the right position!

I think its easier for people like you and me to see the boy goods then the girl goods, however techs are better as seeing both kinds of goods. I've had to ultrasounds and both techs were confident it was a little girl.

Awe, I wouldn't let her comments ruin your surprise!  Like the other girls said, Sono Techs are trained to see all the important parts, where if we look at the screen if we look just for boy parts and if we don't see them, then we assume girl.

I'm kind of jealous, I've wanted to do a gender reveal party, maybe I'll get DH to let me for our next LO.

Yeah I wouldn't let that ruin the surprise :) I agree they are trained for that since they know what to look for in either gender, so I think it could still be very much either one!
