What is the hardest thing you have had to adjust to with married life?

For me it has been to be open with my communication.  In the past, I haven’t had the most healthy relationships and things I have shared with past partners have come back to haunt me, so I put up this wall about not talking about everything.  While we were dating, DH pointed this out to me, and it took me awhile to finally open up to him without risk of being judged or ridiculed for my actions.  I find myself in my married life dealing with things privately that I should share with him, and I am have to keep myself in constant check on making sure to share my thoughts and feelings with DH.  He is my partner and I need to know that he is there for me no matter what.

aww, ccia....at least you can admit its something you need to work on, and are trying to work through.  That shows maturity, and definitely shows hope!  And I'm sure it will get easier for you to open up as time goes on.

For me its been having to cook every day!  LOL.  When I lived alone, I came home and just ate a sandwich or went to the gym, or did whatever I wanted.  But now I have to come home and make dinner...I don't want us to eat out every day cause we need to save money...and DH doesn't cook much so its on me!  But I still love being married....so far! :o)

For me, it is two things:

1) Having to share the bed every night -- sometimes I just want to sprawl and he crowds me!

2) Getting used to having him around all the time. I have lived on my own so long, and I am such an independent person, that sometimes I just need my own space and the ability to do my own thing without having him around. On the nights he has a late meeting or on the rare occasions he goes away for the weekend without me, I secretly give a sigh of happiness.

Sharing! Sharing has always been an issue for me. I was the baby an didn't really grow up around other kids so I never had to share. I hate sharing my salary, my bed, etc. I've adjusted pretty well over the years we've been together but it still frustrates me.

For me its been finances.  I've always been really smart with my money but I don't like have an official budget, I just know what is ok to spend and save, etc.  Husband is really smart about money too but I hate the way he manages his checkbook.  So I've taken that over...but that means now that we both have access to all the money and what is going where ...AND he wants to try to put us on a budget.  I don't know about the budget part but I'm willing to talk about  purchases.  For a while he was like "oh we have to discuss any purchases over $50"...Um Yeah I had to fight that because if I'm at the grocery store and groceries are over 50 bucks I'm not going to call him and confirm!  Haha.
