What level of meds are you taking?

I have been back to my doctor today for my 2nd set of blood test results and nothing has improved so he has prescribed 25mg for 3 months and then I'll go back for more blood tests.

I was just curious as to what levels you ladies are taking - I'm still learning so have no idea what is a high/low dosage !!

I haven't had my levels checked since May.  Prior to that I was going in 4 times a year, blood work, MRIs, thyrogen injections, etc.  In May 2012 he was so happy with my results he said I didn't need to come in for a year.  So I won't get them checked until May 2013.  He said he hoped to drop my dosage even more at that point =/  He said it would give me more energy, which seems backwards to me!

I do set an alarm on my phone to take my meds...I agree, it's a great plan!

i honestly would recommend getting a new dr.  i have had thyroid issues since i was like 14 and i will turn 34 on feb 2nd.  i have never had a dr that wouldnt test my thyroid at least every 3-6 months.  in a year your levels can change so much.  and if your energy is low and you still have all your symptoms, then decreasing your meds would only make that worse.  it wouldnt help give you energy.  you need your tsh, t4 and t3 checked regularly.  you might feel better if you got a different dr and they put you on a better dose of meds.

I know I should...he is a jerk too!  I just feel bad because my MIL works at the same clinic as him and she is the one that recommended him.

And actually my energy levels have been quite good!  The side effects I most often deal with are the inability to loose ANY weight, sleep issues, and body temp issues.

you are the second person in our group that has mentioned sleep issues.  i have never had that side effect or heard of it, but dont doubt that it is related.  the thyoid effects every hormone and every organ in the body.  i will have to look into that more.  i have sleep issues now, but that is a result of my fibromyalgia.

i looked it up some online and there were several people who spoke of sleep problems.  i would recommend telling your new dr about this.  in the case of your mil if she asks i would thank her for the suggestion, but let her know you needed to go to a dr that would really listen to you.  you dont feel well and it isnt fair to her son to not take your health seriously so you can be the wife for him that you want to be.  she will forget that you dont like the dr and love that you are caring for her son.

I just got my Synthroid changed to 100 per day, but I am taking TWO 50 mcg pills per morning.  My naturopath found out that this dose has no dyes and less fillers than other doses, so we are trying this to see if it will help me.  I have Hypo with Hashi's and lots of issues.
