@ what point is it too much?

So some of you know from recent posts that Im getting married end of September and FI and I plan on TTC right away. However, we still want to have fun with it kwim? Im trying to decided if I should temp, chart, do OPKs etc or if I should just let it go and see what happens? Im afraid if I start doing all the "extras" Ill get stressed and it will just become a chore...whats you opinion? what did/are you doing?

What I'm planning on doing is OPK/temping... and then just DTD once I know I'm ovulating... and then see from there... I might still temp once we do start TTC after DTD... but I'm not going to be strict about it. I hear you, I want it to be fun too!!

After I went off the pill I just tracked my period and figured out I was on a 28 day cycle. For a while I just used the ovulation Calculator from the bump to estimate when I O'd. When we got closer to trying I downloaded Fertility Friend app on my phone so that I would know my O'ing range.

I did find out fast that DH didn't like when I told him I was O'ing. He obviously knew what we were trying to do but wasn't a fan of knowing the specifics. :)

I'm not sure this has been suggested to you yet, but start taking a prenatal now (with DHA). I didn't realize I was supposed to be taking it while TTC until a few days before I got a BFP.

DH and I did the whole, not stopping not planning thing when I went off BC in August before we got married in September.  We got preggo on our honeymoon.  We sadly lost that LO and have now been TTC for 6 cycles now.  I didnt track anything the first 3 months because we wanted it "stress" free too.  We just got frustrated after the 3rd month and I started using OPK and then started temping the cycle after that.  DH and I are now both to the point where it's all science and this month we DTD almost everyday to the point where it felt like work.  If we dont get a BFP this month,  I dont know what we'll do.

@AuntTate- Same thing happened to my girlfriend...althought hey didnt miscarry (sorry about that!) but she was determined after trying for 4 months to no avail so they started DTD EVERYDAY and she too said it felt like work. THe next month her hubby was out of town for a week, then she was out of town for a week and was busy with getting ready for school to start (shes a teacher). They DTD ONE TIME that month and BAM! Preggo! She now has a precious 14 month old! Braelyn!milkgal yup I started photo 3380161-1 It WILL happen for you!

Our plan is to just DTD like rabbits and see what happens. We both don't want to overthink it/put too much pressure on it at first. If we don't have a BFP after 6 months then we'll start the extras. My Dr told me the same thing as well - if nothing after 6 months then I go and see her.

But there is no wrong/right way. Talk to your FI about it and see what he's comfortable with.

For me, the decision to temp and use OPKs had other factors involved.  I am 35.  My mother went into peri-menopause at 38.  DH is 43.  I am older by 10 YEARS than any woman on EITHER side of my family to try to have a baby.  Throw in some other health factors and my dr strongly encouraged me to chart right away.  We are even getting a pass on the regular "trying period" to have DH tested if we want.

We are not actually TTC until September - my dr wanted me off BCP for 3 cycles before we try.  We are using condoms during the first part of my cycle through 48 hours after I O - despite the using protection again, we are still making DTD fun and enjoying being together.

TTC doesn't have to be a chore, but you have to decide for yourself what is "too much" and if there is a need to have extra information on hand because of a situation that is unique to you and DH, like we have =)

I think this is a personal decisions.... I had a unplanned pregnancy with my first, now that were TTC for #2 soon I want to do OPKs just so I know.

Were also shooting for a boy second time around and they say if you DTD the day you ovulate its a better chance for a boy so were gonna give that a whirl :)

I'm definitely exhausted at this point.  I've been going to an RE since January.  At the beginning of my cycle I go in for bloodwork and ultrasound then start pills/injections and go back a week later.  At that point I'm pretty much there everyday for BW and US until O and then have the IUI procedure.  The office is about 30 minutes from my work and they open at 6:30AM which is great since I have to be at work by 8AM.  It's just a lot of running around and poking and prodding.  Of course, I will do whatever it takes but I never imagined it would be this difficult.

I just started today taking a prenatal today, but without the DHA. The one with DHA said non pregnant women should not take. We already know that we are going to need medical help so I guess for the first few months just see and what happens then go see the doctor.

well for us we are just going to stop preventing it and see what happens. If we go 6 months with nothing then I'll look into the temps and all that. I'm also tracking my periods, symptoms and ovulation cycle just so I have an idea. Plus with the app you can keep track of when you DTD so I'm going to do that too. But like you said, I don't want it to feel like a chore right off the bat. If we go an entire year of trying then I'll get super serious about it and do the whole nine yards.
