What Theme did you choose? Why?

Did you have any other themes in mind?

We're having a Hawaiian Theme because we love the culture. It's important to us as a couple and individually. And its even partially what brought us together in the first place so its fitting.

Our first choice was to have a Japanese theme but Hawaiian made much more sense for us.

So what theme are you going with?

Modern Renaissance is our theme.  All of our things will be Renaissance inspired with a modern twist.

We chose our theme because the Renaissance period was the most romantic time in history.

Not sure yet (based on time of year, location, and budget). We love a theme idea. It's funny. I hate the idea of having a wedding with everything matching perfectly and a few set colors, but I love the idea of a theme. I also don't want an overly feminine wedding. We are looking into the themes of:

Desert Oasis- I think the southwest is beautiful and it reminds us of Israel (open desert). Thing is, this would be the most expensive of all the weddings for us. For food serve standard Middle Eastern and Jewish foods in a buffet fashion during the evening. EXPENSIVE

Lakeside Frog and Lily- Got the idea off a groom's cake (we aren't from the south and don't really want to spend the money on an extra cake) that I thought was really cool and hilarious. Found some locations in Austin and areas south of it at restaurants. We would do heavy appetizers for this. Wedding at sunset with appetizers to follow. MODERATE PRICE

Zoo Wedding- Saw some cool pictures of people who did this. We are both animal lovers and like the idea of this. The zoos we looked at though weren't cheap and seem to nickle and dime a lot and you need to go with their vendors which I hate. EXPENSIVE

Brunch no Theme, no Color wedding. In Austin and centrally located. We like the venue because it's cheap, pretty, and we could have a wedding during the high season at a fabulous rate Can't really think of a theme. Maybe someone can help me think of a theme for this location? We are feeling doing a brunch wedding here. Please no breakfast at Tiffany's theme, Gatsby, or Shabby Chic theme! CHEAP AND PRETTY

The more I think of it, the more I like the last brunch wedding of all of them. It is the most affordable and the location would be the best for everyone. I watch a combination of wedding shows, and shows of couples buying houses, and the more I am leaning towards a nice and cheaper wedding to have more money for a down payment on a house. We would be happy with any of the above weddings though. I love the idea of having a wedding that is very different, but I also would like to have more $ on a house. A brunch wedding probably suits us because we like the idea of a shorter, less formal wedding. We are pretty shy and really don't like being the center of attention or dancing. With the last venue, I like it, but I am not gaga over it. I just think of how much more affordable everything will be with it and that makes me more gaga lol. Sorry for going on and on. I just needed to think about it :)

Well, we have a twisted theme. sort of a comination.  Jeff will be in full pirate garb.  I will be like the fairyish bride.  Totally hippy in some ways.  We have some Irish traditions being worked in as well.  We are both pretty Bohemian (I think the "in" word is now Indie).  So we are looking to make it as low-key as possible while still having an amazing time!

I saw a pirate/Jewish/Scottish wedding once on TLC on A Wedding Story. Pretty cool!

We are having a Gatsby/Old Hollywood Glam kinda theme.  I've always loved everything about the 20's & 30's.  The Great Gatsby is one of my favorite books and I've always envisioned a Gatsby type party for my wedding.

Another inspiration was finding this Gatsby dress by Maggie Sottero.  http://www.maggiesottero.com/dress.aspx?style=J1205LU

Bird theme!  My FFIL is a wood carver and he carves and paints all kinds of birds.  It all sort of started from there.  They are beautiful and offer so many opportunities for creativity.  And for our spring wedding it just fits.

Plus birds are lively and energetic and so are we!
