What to throw? Rice, Rose Petals...Ideas Please!

OK, call me crazy, but I am not into the idea of bubbles or rose petals being thrown as my new husband and I make our getaway.
We thought of sparklers, but here in Texas, the land of the drought, that is never a good idea- and it also turns out a bit smoky in the photos.
So there is always Rice, or maybe lavender seeds, but I'm just not feeling inspired by any of the standard options. Does anyone out there have something unique, romantic, and not over done?

Thanks in advance!

Birdseed is a good option instead of rice too. Just make sure to get small birdseed or else it might hurt :)

No rice! Birds will eat it and can die.

My church won't allow us to throw anything, not even ecofetti.  :(

IMHO the bubbles thing can get a little messy, so we are going with ribbon wands.  I hear they are easy but time consuming to make.  But I found them for what I thought was a good price at http://www.haloheaven.com/weddingwands.html

They were about 50 cents each for the basic ribbon wand (what I ordered) and are totally customizable.

I've been entertaining the idea of the wedding wand but adding some bells onto the wands as well and putting them in a basket that says something along the lines of helping the new bride and groom ring in their new life.

I'm going with ecofetti too! It looks so beautiful in pictures, it's easy to clean up and it's good for the enviornment! My church seems pretty strict on what they allow too, but they said they've used this before and it was fine.

We are going with wands.  I didn't really want anything thrown at me, which our location won't allow anyways so we're good.  On the other hand, I didn't want sticky bubbles either.  We decided to make our wands and they're super cute.

I gave DH the option of bubbles or wands (I really loved the wands idea, and I wanted it so bad...), and DH chose the bubbles.  In the end, it was the easiest (and probably least expensive), and everyone loved them.

I haven't thought about what to throw on our wedding, so now, one down! Great ideas!

I love the wedding wand! And if there's a bubble producing machine then I want em both. :)
