When to send invites out?

My wedding is October 11. I'm mailing them out at the end of July and giving a RSVP date of September 11. That gives them five weeks to RSVP and hopefully, that will give me the final list of guests one month prior to the wedding date (IF everyone replies). I don't think two months is too early at all...do what works for you!

Our wedding is September 6, and we'll be sending out our invites around June 6 - with an RSVP date of August 6. We wanted at least a month in advance of the wedding date to hound people who were slow in getting their RSVPs to us. And the reason we're sending out the invites early is that we're hoping that if people decline early enough, we'll be able to invite more people. Hope that helps!

Wedding- June 28
RSVP deadline- June 1
Sending out- end of April

I think 2 weeks is NOT enough time before the wedding to have all the rsvp's in. You know some people are slackers/ forgetful! I gave myself 4 weeks to figure out who hadn't replied, that way I'll have ample time to figure out final seating arrangements, catering numbers, etc. I also think giving the guests at least a month from invite arrival to rsvp deadline is appropriate.

6-8 weeks is the typical amount of time for invites to be sent out. I would suggest having them RSVP 3-4 weeks prior to the wedding. This will allow you time to track those that "forget" to RSVP. Also, it gives you more time to take care of the items you can't really do until you have a headcount (ie. seating charts, name cards, etc.).

like Beatie, my wedding is October 11th~I plan on sending them out mid-July and requesting RSVPs by September 1 (which is about 6 weeks prior to the wedding). I'm allowing myself 7-10 days from September 1st to contact some of those straglers. this way I will have an actual FINAL headcount exactly 1 month out...I think you definitely need at least a month prior to the wedding so you can let your vendors (particularly the caterer) know your exact number, you can start your seating chart (if you choose to do one), and just for your own sanity period! Wedding date: May 18
RSVP date: April 20
Mail date: March 13

I wanted to give my guests some time to figure it out, but give myself some time to follow up with those that don't send them in in a timely manner. We sent out invites for 120 people and have recieved 85 back so far. Deadline is this weekend, so it looks as though I may be making phone calls next week. Arggggg.

My invite time line is a lot like Cari's.

Our wedding is on May 24th, RSVP by April 30th and we mailed them the third week of March.

We chose the April 30th deadline to avoid the postage stamp increase for May 1st. But also because it gives us a better ideal of who all is coming to alert our caterers and make those phone calls if we don't get responses by the end of the month.
