When to take newborn out?

Both my parents and DH want to take me out for my first Mother's day celebration.  But I really really don't want to take Charlie out in public until he's at least two months old.  I figured that's when he'll have a handful of vaccines by then.  Am I crazy?  We have taken him out for a few walks around the park for some sunshine and vitamin D but that's it.  When did you take your newborn out in public?

Take him when you're ready, if you aren't comfortable doing it then maybe they could come to you, or how about a quick picnic in the park?

My boys were out and about at 3 days, we went to a restaurant at about 10 days when we met up with our friends that had their son the week before our boys were born - it was a very stressful meal having 3 newborns with 4 first time parents for the first time! Lol

I agree with Canook- take LO out when you are ready.

My LO was about 5 weeks when I took her to Target. I kept a blanket over her carseat to avoid people touching her which I think is one of the biggest concerns. LO will be almost 10wks on mothers day and we are planning on going out to dinner.

We had to take her to the hospital and dr a few times during her first 2 weeks...right at about 2 weeks we took her to an outdoor shopping area for a walk and lunch, even fed her while we were out...

I had the same question....got same answers..."whenever you want!" A lot of Asians I work with have this whole 30 days in the house thing....

If you go out just keep him covered in the stroller or wear him if you don't want people to touch or breathe on him! :)

I took Blake to my work after his 2 week checkup when the DR saw him and said he looked good. Grant it he was only held by 3 people but still. I was weird about having him near people at first knowing he has no vaccines. But I agree with the girls go when you're ready. No point in you being stressed and not enjoying your outing.

We took Max out in public (besides his Ped's office) at around 2 weeks old.  We went out to eat, but had him covered in the car seat the whole time.  I think he pretty much slept through it.  When DH's family found out, they were shocked.  But it's not like we took him to concert or anything, with tons of people around.  It was the middle of the day, on a weekday, so the restaurant was pretty bare.  Just do whatever you're comfortable with.
